My sister wants to go to hawaii, Im retired USAir, I dont know what I have for options or best time or anything. The only thing I know is she told me she has to opt out (or change the resevered time) of a time share by the end of march or lose it (or move it). Anyone that can help please do.

Is Kauai a mainlaine option? I dont remember. my last time in hawaii was 197?. But she sounds determined to go on questionable tickets, I would just as soon do guaranteed tickets but, retirement just hasnt panned out as good as I thought. Not to bust your butt, but where does "USAir" fly in Hawaii, I dont know anymore. I've been out for two years & dont follow the additions added by AmericaWest. But I would appreciate anymore help!!!

Phoenix- Honolulu/Lihue/Kahului/Kona and Las Vegas-Kahului. Just booked a cruise myself and have been checking flights. It appears that there are a couple of double flights on Saturday (not sure how long these last) and the Lihue/Kona flights were almost full for the March dates I was looking at, but HNL and OGG were both looking ok. You can always do the island shuffle for cheap if you have to coming or going.

West flies to :

HNL, LIH, OGG, KOA

These flight are usually VERY full and I would not take a chance unless you could go on a SA1P ticket - which means you would have to go with her. Personally, I would go to Expedia and check prices. Non-reving to these destinations at this time of year and through March I would not recommend. There have also been issues with weight and balance and cancelled flights resulting in non-revs stuck there. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - but I also would hate to see your sister stuck.

Thanks for the info its what I thought, not a chance. Thanks for all your info though, I'll pass it along to my sister when she wants the "free ticket".

I did LIH yesterday and out of the 757 we only had 46 passengers both ways... Talk about a piece of CAKe.

Retirees get guest passes? How many? Is that East or West?
Where does one go to get info on the passes available for retirees from East?

retirees esst and west get one sa1p pass per year. Active employees get two. I think you have to book it on theHub.

Off season HI is April/May and Sept/Oct.

Retirees get 1 SA1P pass a year and 4 regular guest passes per year. That compares to 2/8.

Go to the ETC - it shows how many guest and SA1 passes you have (look in the lower right corner).

FWIW, if you have and SA1 or guest passes left over from 2006, you have till Jan 31 to book them, then 1 year to use them.

FWIW #2, remember that for travel to HI, the "free" guest pass could cost as much as $140 plus fees/taxes each way depending on where you start your trip. By keeping an eye out for good discounts and being flexible with dates, you might be able to get a regular ticket for not much more.
