Looks like Flyi has begun shutting down, all aircraft should be parked by days end.

Funny... their website is still selling tickets.

What is your source? I checked CNN and MSNBC, nothing mentioned there.

Being one of those who worked well past the "stick a fork in them they are dead" statements about US Airways, I am very leery to believe any such thing.

Chances are better that something else will emerge from the chaos and prove to be a more formidable competitor that Independence had the capability to be.

So chill.

Branson would only want the operating cert and maybe to assume the leases on the A319s or selected gates. He wants nothing to do with RJs or the employees.

You mean like have a mini-hub at IAD? Like MetroJet?

FlyI has no assets other than the operating certificate. They have 2 LGA slots which might not be transferable, they had to apply for them and were granted the slots. US doesn't need RJs. US gave back how many Airbii in bankruptcy?

I hope everyone will remember that IF this is true, people will no longer have jobs. Please don't dishonor those folk by somehow speculating or celebrating.

While I will only believe that Branson wants a piece of this airline when I see it, one of the FEW reasons (besides certificates and ready-to-go gate space at three dozen airports) to bid on FlyI is the employees. Very good front line people w/ experience and a contract that management at most carriers would consider favorable. They're the best part of the airline.

A lot of the Independence employees in PIT were former US and USE. Most jumped ship during the bankruptcy.

I'm sorry to say, but competition sometimes means that someone is going to lose, whether it's a job or a whole company. Ask Southwest if they feel bad when they come into a station to compete and people from OA's lose their jobs.

Even MORE the reason to not act inappropriately. 😉

Sorry, chief, but they day I see WN driven out of a station is the day I stand on a belt loader facing their gates and dropping my drawers to shoot them a moon. I believe in giving as good as I get. Taking the high road sometimes gets you nowhere.

I see where you are coming from and hey, chief, we all make the decisions that are important to us. I do take the high road. While I am NO LUV fan, they are still people and I know how much I hated the circling of the crows over our company. I don't wish that onto anyone. But that's just me.

Point taken, Chiefity-chief guy.

Speaking of WN, I can't wait to see how they handle a Pittsburgh winter, considering that their gates face north, and most locals at PIT agree that working anywhere on that side of the airport is tantamount to suicide in sub-zero temperatures, unless of course you are a hardy US employee.

Well Sir Richard will need employees in order to get it off the ground. may be he will remember that instead of having to hire off the streets, he would consider taking those employees since they already have the experience.
