Authorities say four people are dead after a plane accident in suburban Chicago.

The twin-engine Cessna cabin-class plane crashed this evening near the Palwaukee Municipal Airport.

The small plane appeared headed for an arrival at the airport when the accident happened at about 6:30 p.m.

NBC5 reported that the plane went down in a concrete construction company yard.

FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory said the aircraft went down in a commercial area roughly one mile from the airport.

The crash on the 300 block of Alderman Court was reported to Wheeling's police department at about 6:30 p.m.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane was coming in for a landing when it went down.

The Wheeling fire department was on the scene. Residents were being evacuated from the area.
