Using Social media to get the word out.

The Fleet T/A is nothing short of a complete gutting of the Fleet Service contract. One of their battles revolves around retiree medical. On November 7, 2011, TWU Legal Counsel addressed some of the issue's.

The Vote No YouTube video is making its rounds! It was sent to me and I forwarded it to a Fleet CC here in SAN. Other guys here are getting it sent to their e-mails and iphones. This video is making Fleet stop and think about their POS. I LOVE the part in the video where someone makes the point of "Why did the presidents bring this back?" Kinda like us at M&E. Fortunately at the Local level we can vote out those who sold out their membership but the problem is in the twu international structure.

I feel sorry for the Fleet guys because even when they vote their POS t/a down they are still stuck with the twu.

This T/A must be the gains made at the bargaining table that gless was talking about in his sniveling "dont work by the book" letter. Truly there is no hope when you're represented by the twu. This is a union that told its members to cross thier own picket line (local 100 members during the transit strike). AA and the twu pioneered the destruction of airline jobs. You have to fight the company and your own union. What chance do you really have? The twu is truly an obscenity to unionism and the labor movement. The only option at AA is to find another job.

Zom,

There is an option. The AMTs will remove the twu by electing AMP. Fleet can also seek other union representation also.

So what good will it do to vote no?

Dear Brothers Little and Drummond:

I have a few concerns on the Fleet Service and Ground Service ratification vote.

The first issue is that of the time line. This was never discussed with the full Negotiating Committee.

The other issue is how this will be distributed to the membership. Again, this was not discussed with the full Negotiating Committee. In all fairness, the Tentative Agreements for Maintenance & Related and Stores were put into hard copies and distributed to the membership.

These decisions were made by Tim Gillespie, not the full Negotiating Committee. I feel this vote is being rushed for the upcoming holiday (Christmas Day). A vote on one’s future should not be based upon an upcoming holiday. This is a violation of the Negotiations By-Laws. (See below)

In accordance with the TWU-ATD Policy and Rules for Contract Negotiations

Tentative Agreements
“A ratification vote of all tentative agreements must be scheduled on the same date. This date will be a minimum of 30 days after a complete copy of the tentative agreement has been distributed. The negotiating committee will determine the distribution date. Ratification votes shall be conducted by secret ballot except that members on strike may vote by secrete ballot box vote to expedite results.”

TWU International

Hum, sounds as if the International is doing a little damage control. The international knows full well what goes on during negotiations so their "letter to the membership" will simply try and make them look like they had nothing to do with this POS t/a. So the international thinks that a rush to vote before the holidays is bad? How about bringing this crap back in the first place. Beware Fleet Service! Vote No when ever you get your ballot.

TWU International
Buck, who sent this letter to Little and Drummond???

To ALL my union brothers and sisters in Fleet......VOTE NO! The Retiree Medical alone will drain your pension benefits.....Please read Article 41 carefully because it contradicts what TWU counsel David Rosen told Bob Gless in a letter dated Nov. 7th. The link is on an earlier thread in this topic. Please read it!

Ken, I wish the ATMs all the luck in the world that you guys get the AMP as a union. The TWU (Totally Worthless Union) has been a farce of other unions for a long time. I'm sad to say that I could never see the FSCs trying to get rid of the TWU. Apathy is rampant among my fellow FSCs.

Voting No he at least keeps what he has.
Voting NO, if done loudly, sends a message back to AA and the International that the membership will not tolerate another round of self hoarding concessions. Voting NO tells mediator terry brown that she will have more work to do. Voting NO sends a message to Arpey, Dellvalle, and Gillespie, that the membership will not tolerate collusion, intimidation and most importantly, destruction of a classification. Voting NO will allow self preservation of dignity. Finally, voting NO will force more scams, schemes and atrocities by the union and the company to surface. Not 3 letters, just 2.... NO
