Well it's time to think about what has happened in the past few months. After reading all the posts I have to wonder about what is really going on. Stop for a minute and read between the lines and you will see it's all about money. But you already know that. So what know? I feel we need a UNION that will stand up for our best interest. Is there a chance that one does exist? The answer is what you have come to believe..... You can make change ..... But it will mean you might have to get off the couch and show up to a union meeting or maybe just voice your concerns to a person that cares. That might be hard to find with this IAM and TWU sell out but that might tell the members that it is time for change. If the IAM fails us then we need to bond together and vote in let's say TEAMSTERS then give them a try, Tim any hind sight?

Timmy had been hum"bled" and silenced

What's done is done. I would have preferred it to go another way but 'game over'. IAM wins.

Redeem time by moving forward.

regards,

Looking forward, you must realize that the teamsters are very sensitive to US AIRWAYS mechanics. IMO, if the IBT can not get the support and favorable resulting NMB determinations for mechanics then the IBT will most definately 'officially' come after fleet service based on 'key things'.
There have been 'breakfast club' gatherings to this effect is what I understand. I am not saying I have been privy to any IBT involvement.

One thing is for sure, I have come to realize that there is no love lost between the IBT and IAM.

Some things just may have to take a bit longer than first anticipated. Nuff said.

Hey Tim, do you have any idea of how many cards the IBT would need to call for an election in Fleet Service?

Give it a break already. It's over, you know turn out the lights, move on, get a life.

I will move on.

We can't stop it now so let's ALL START NEW AND UNIFIED!!!

T -together
E -everyone
A -achieves
M -more

lets stop the in-fighting! If we can't we are our own worst enemy.

TO be clear, I have no interest in participating in an IBT campaign, although I know some that do want to.
But to answer your question. I believe any IBT card signup would be around January 2007. However, many things would be needed.

For instance, with the TWU playing dead now, let's say 1,500 former TWU members get laid off due to their stations being contracted out due to the IAM iron clad contract which now allows this. If only PHX, LAS and another one or two survive then the IBT would need probably a 65% signup just to have an election. It's an uphill battle.

IMO, TWU represented employees just got TWU'd. They will probably figure out what this means in the next few months.
One thing I bet happens is that the 580 membership will probably let PR and the rest of the 580 board know what they think of them.

It's too bad more and more union members get screwed. And it is no wonder why 2005 saw the first drop under 8% of the private sector being unionized. People aren't stupid.

Separately, as I wrote this I have received "New News". A lawsuit against the NMB may be getting readied by a "Top" Law firm to protect the dismissed election and the right to vote.
There may be a case for it, however a decision has not been made yet. It's being 'deeply' reveiwed and should be formulated or not formulated within the next 48 hours.
Don't anyone get your hopes up but I put its chances of going to district court at about 40%. Definately not over at this time.

regards,

In order to change an exsisting union you need 50% card sign up, I believe.

You can't force a union to hold a vote, they have the right to recind their petition.

My undestandings is intentions, and violations may have come into play, but that's for the courts to decide IF THERE IS A SUIT. IMO, you may be right 700. Time will tell. All I'm saying is a 'top firm' may want to give em hell and see what comes up. At this time they have not decided to file it.

I also need a TWU represented member to contact me if they may be needed as a party to this suit to help secure the election. Contact me through US AVIATION. If I think I know where this is headed then it may fuel the fire to have a TWU worker from PHX or elsewhere who wants to be a part of this suit, if it goes forward. The firm already knows they can use me but others, especially TWU folk may be asked on.

Again, dunno about some of these things yet but if they give the go ahead then look for things to take an interesting twist.

Wasting your time and someone's money, lawyers don't work for free, and the NMB is a government agency following the same rules and regulations they have for years, this is not the first time this happened.

Blowing smoke is all you are doing.

The time is to come together not keep the in-fighting going on.

Maybe you're right 700 but the NMB been 'had' before on several occasions with election determinations. Hold on, this will be a thumbs up or thumbs down extremely soon. Maybe you're right, then again maybe this is the one case that this law firm has been wanting to challenge. Dunno yet. At this point we are wasting our time talking about it. I'll post when I get more info. One thing I can tell you 100% is that the firm is quite interested in this one.

Geeze, all the threats of possible lawsuits involving top law firms. Isn't this the same threat made when ALPA's GAG had to take their toys and go home? Any relation to a certain pilot? Keep spreading that FUD.

I know you will have no problems getting a 580 member to step up....A petition was passed around for 580 members to sign for a vote. And I beieve over a 1000 signed this.
Please pass on to me or post any info.
