Gay soldier gets booed at RNC debate

Interestingly, incidents like this are really showing the party's true colors these days. On one hand, the GOP misses no opportunity to showcase their "patriotism" by taking reactionary and neandrethalithic pro-military stances on virtually every foreign policy (and federal spending for that matter) issue that comes up. On the other hand, this embarrassment. They should all be ashamed.

Foreign policy decisions are niether pro-military or anti-military, they are two seperate things. If GWB had decided not to invade Iraq that would not have meant he was anti-military. It would have meant he decided it was not worth the cost.

Of all people, Rick Santorum made an interesting comment during the debate regarding gays in the military and you could tell he kind of made the response on the fly. He mentioned the rules in the military regarding fraternization that sex between members has been prohibited long before gays were openly in the military. Which is an interesting point. One I've not heard before.

Did he actually say that? If he did that tells me he has no clue as to what he's talking about. I did pick up this quote I would say any type of sexual activity has absolutely no place in the military. Well that's news to the numerous service memebers who are married to other service members.

Here's the fratenzation poilicy in the military, if you are an officer you are not allowed to have sexual relations with enlisted. Or if you are in a position of authority over a subordinate you are not allowed to have realtions with them. If you are a commanding officer you cannot have realtions with an officer within your command even though that individual is an officer. Now, if an officer is in another command and even if you out rank them that's okay.

Well then I guess you should not care one way or the other about DADT.

Well yes and no. Personally I've never been a "Kiss & Tell" kind of guy. I keep my mouth shut about all things sexual as far as a G/F goes. Way I was raised I guess. As for DADT in the Military I don't think it really matters one way or another.

It has to do with survivorship, SS benefits, medical authority, and not having to lie about who you are.

A gay soldier would not have been able to write what you just wrote. He could have faced a discharge for writing what you wrote or for speaking it in public. That is why DADT matters.

To you perhaps, like I said I really don't care as this whole issue is being raised to take some people's minds off of Obama's miserable performance. Typical Progressive move, dangle the shiny metal object of homosexuality and get the conservative evangelicals frothing at the mouth and exploit it for reelection.

Ever notice......COTUS doesn't exactly fair well under DOD or Gov't for that matter.

Of course it does not mater to you. You are straight and you got yours and do not seem to care about anyone else.

What too many gay activists and supporters forget is that marriage is a religious institution first and foremost, and predates *any* constitution or government.

Who's religion, yours? What religion is claiming exclusive rights to "marriage"?

Marriage predates any constitution, but I seem to remember a certain president wanting to ammend our constitution to ban gay marriage.

Funny thing, I remember going to the town hall to get my marriage license, not the church.

I really don't give a dam who marries who, but what does bother me is some bible thumping, right wing nut job trying to force his religious dogma down everyones throat.

Elosen never pointed to a specific religion merely to an historical FACT,

Progressives as we all know never allow facts to get in the way of their agenda no matter what it my be.

Going back to clinging to my guns and religion now. Enjoy your bigoted, narrow minded day

And what you right wing nuts are good at doing is just taking part of a fact and presenting it as a whole.

Marriage as an affair of the heart is a recent advent. If you go back and study the use of marriage it was used to align families and as an exchange of property. Women had no rights. No rights of ownership, no individual rights. They were a commodity to be bartered like a sheep or a cow.

The church and the monarch rules the day. You did their biding or you ended up in a bad place. Lenience was not their strong suite. Speak out against either and you were a heretic (most monarch claimed to be anointed by god) and that was never a good thing.

Would you like to go back to that day and age?

You know I think one of the reasons Blacks are now so easily accepted in the Military is they had segregated units since the Civil War that not only proved to be battle ready but superior to many all white units. This when it came time to integrate they were far more readily accepted.

So I've been thinking that perhaps a way to speed up acceptance the Army might create a few segregated units. Something like, "Pink Thunder, 69th Light in the Loafers Infantry". I mean think of the history if instead of the 101st Airborne being surrounded at bastogne, BE, It was the "1st Butt Pirate Brigade" aka "The Battling Biocthes of Bastogne" Then gays would easily be accepted as the military is a meritocracy.

Just a thought? What's the Over/Under on how many times I get called homophobic?

Did you hear about the Gay Little Person?
Yeah! He came out of the Cupboard!

You really need to get out more and actually read some history.

The tuskegee air men had the deck stated gist them from day one. I had Thr honor of speaking to one in the flesh. He was treated like dirt for the first part of his tour. Until his unit started to proof e them selves then it changed in the air. Was still a second class citizen on the ground. Came back tot the US and still could not printout of the same fountain that everyone else did.

The integration in 1948 was not met with open arms and flowers. You ignorance and trivialization of history is sad but again not unexpected.

I met one too when I was in Huntsville, AL on business. NO sane person who had read a history book can deny the challenges they faced anymore than on can deny the Holocaust. Granted the 1948 integration was not met with open arms. Most change never is.

What I do find interesting is that more self made blacks hove little time for whining. Hermain Cain, Robert L. Johnson, Clarence Thomas, Alan West, got to where they are by not joining the Political Parasite Class like Rangel, Waters and their ilk.

I was half serious about some all gay units as it would put to rest a lost of stereotypes. Based on my experience around the macho male it there are two things they LOVE to do. One is fight and the other starts with the same letter.

I just love tweaking the PC crowd and you fall for it every time.
