Can someone explain why NWA in a cost cutting measure, pull out of GDS (Global Distribution System)? By pulling out no members of the GDS, including travel agents who sell tickets through GDS, can sell any tickets. This, in effect, cuts a revenue stream.

The general opinion is that it is a continuation of NWA's attempt to become the single source for tickets on NWA - through nwa.com, etc. - and control the entire revenue stream. Whether it succeeds or whether it serves to drive business away remains to be seen.
