Lookout CWA ... Jerry will see that CRO agents carry the vote! By making sure they have no future ...

Step by step how Jerry Glass plans to get a yes vote out of the CWA.

1- He tells the CWA that they plan to move PIT and INT reservations to Alabama.

2- He tells the CWA that if they don’t vote yes it will end up in front of a judge.

3- He says that if it ends up in front of a judge there will be no furlough packages for the Reservation agents that don’t want to transfer to Alabama. (90%).

Just like that 90% of the reservation dept votes yes cause they are not going to be around anyway and all they care about is their furlough package……. How about that...... agents that have no future decide what the rest of us get for years to come.

CWA you better get the word out .......

Reservations won't be moved to Alabama.
That's the most comical thing I've heard yet.
There is no infrastructure there and the
costs of relocating everyone would be
prohibitive.

Most likely, they will combine PIT and INT
in INT. With the new web site coming in
the fall and more customers moving to
online booking, most reservations agents
will be handling reissues and other
specialized tasks.

What we really should do is go back to the
travel agencies and work out a 3% deal
for booking our flights. Then we can close
reservations altogether and leave all of
the booking to us.com and travel agents.
That is much less expensive than actually
having employees to move to Alabama or
INT.

What device moves your blood? It sure isn't a heart!

or and merely a guess, 0 progress in negotiations or complete disregard for "your boss" ends up with the boss being replaced as signified by standstill progress in past followed by the departure of certain executives since they completly lost the ability to manage

prediction, mr glass won't see christmas as an employee of the corporation

US Airways CEO and VP Labor relations meet with CWA president Morty Bahr...
CEO Bruce Lakefield and VP Jerry Glass met with CWA President Morty Bahr at CWA's DC Headquarters on Tuesday, July 13. The US Airways executives asked for the meeting to lay out their view that US Airways needs employee concessions to avoid bankruptcy. They then laid-out more specifics of their proposals for CWA Passenger Service pay and benefit cuts.
In general, their proposal is to offer a buyout package (somewhat less than the CWA's proposal), and those who refuse the buyout and remain on the job would be reduced to the America West level in pay, vacation, sick benefits, retirement and retiree medical would be eliminated. Those recalled from furlough would come back at the starting rate. Those on the job would keep their seniority, but be reduced to the America West pay scale (top rate of $13.10 per hour). The executives also implied they are considering moving the res centers to "lower cost areas". All this is how management proposes to cut $122 million from the payroll and benefits of passenger service.
Our CWA research department continues to work with us on counter-proposals that will save the company money (very large amounts of money) but do not cut the employees' standard of living as the management's plan would.
There are no meetings with management scheduled at this point, but we will be setting up meetings in the near future.
CWA local presidents and staff will meet Friday with our bankruptcy attorney Dan Katz of the law firm Katz & Rantzman, and CWA research economists to review bankruptcy procedures and to develop data on our proposals.
We'll keep you informed of developments as they unfold.

90% won't move, only have to relocate 10% based on the MCO closing. Glass then gets to hire all new employees at $7.00 an hour, that's what he wants anyway..... What a deal.

My guess though is he will bring the new contract to a vote just before he does it, like he did before he closed MCO. Did you know only 50 MCO agents out of about 450 transferred? The rest voted yes so they won't lose their furlough package. The yes votes won by 5 votes!

Glass is no dummy

My thoughts exactly. I think there will be a few more that leave with him. Can you hear the sounds of the Golden Parachutes begining to open?

Hey guys Bruce was there too, you think he's going anywhere???? CWA BETTER SEND THE A TEAM AND BE READY FOR SOME HARDBALL. JERRY AND BRUCE ARE MAJOR LEGUGE PLAYERS

Its Bruce Ashby that is heading up ALL the negotiations; NOT Lakefield.

Once these agreements are in; they will terminate Lakefield's employement as per his contract, and he will be paid triple his $475,000 salary and stock.

Pretty nice short run for coming out of retirment for a NY minute.

If he saves US Airways from the dung heap you could argue that his salary was a bargain. Especially if the company thrives and prospers.
Maybe, but all he has really done is to beat on labor again. Heck, I'll beat labor for half a million per year.

I don't know where you got your figures on MCORO but they were wrong. There were only 300 employees and of course some of them were managements, sups, floor coordinators etc. who had no options to transfer. Also , while you are correct about the 50 people transfering, that was initially. About 10-15 more transfered up after taking the uneumployment benefits and furlough package. They just had o pay for the move themselves.

Or he could just pull what Indy Air did and outsource all res to Sykes or another related company. It would be nice, if that were the case, to find a company to take over the old facilities and offer jobs to the existing people. Unfortunately pay and bennies would be different - but wouldn't be dependant completely on US Airways anymore. Which could be a good thing in the long run?

Lets see, they tell reservations that they are moving INT and PIT and that a yes vote saves their furlough package. Then offer small lump sum and regular retirement to those over 55 for a yes vote or lose retirement benefits altogether.

Bottom line employees that are leaving carry the day all the rest of us have to live with $13.10 an hour forever!!! :D

Last go around ..... The yes have it by 5 votes....... You do the math ..... Mr Glass 1 CWA 0 ! ;)
