Article from Dawn Gilkerson running in tomorrow's AZ republic. A snip...

After US Airways stumbled its way through a changeover of its reservations system and a paralyzing ice storm last month, CEO Doug Parker conceded that the Tempe-based airline risked losing passengers if it didn't get its act together soon.

"You can run a substandard airline for a short period of time, but you can't do it for a long period," he said.

Duh...

• Upgrading its inflight service, from food and training for flight attendants, to a "revolutionary" seat-back entertainment system. The first improvements will debut this summer; the entertainment system will begin a trial period early next year.

Where, where and where? Training for what flight attendants? The handful of West new hires? What food- Inflight Cafe? Theres only food really on the transatlantic flights. How come we haven't heard anything about this?

They need to finish the work group contracts and integrations quickly, then REALLY focus on the operation and the product. Both will improve morale and they'd be surprised how much that makes a difference.

The IFE sounds exciting, would it be fleet wide or only on certain planes? US is actually in a better position to do this than any of the majors since its such a small fleet and about half of it is going to be replaced in the next few years. The weight issue shouldn't be a problem since all the closets and gallies are gone I guess! I don't think anyone would mind being a JetBlue but with a premium cabin and international routes... fine, we're not Singapore, we're not Southwest, just be something cool, modern and unique and CONSISTENT. The current trailer park image needs to GO!!!

The SABRE cut over was just before Thanksgiving if I remember correctly. Is it not possible to schedule these things at the slowest time of the year? What about the end of January or the end of October.
As far as weather on the the east, welcome to my world. It is the nature of the beast. Events like this come every year. Someone should be aware that this weather is a given. Every few years there is a "storm of the century, decade, etc."
I think the old U was open to these kinds of events more so than more robust carriers. Hopefully the west will some day help mitigate these things in the future.
It's coming every winter, whether you're ready for it or not is the question.

And don't forget, they want to redesign the web site YET AGAIN!

Mule wants an eighth day in the week and these guys can't use the seven they already have.

Hey, Tempe! Here's a thought: Why don't you all cut down on the drinking, the golf outings and the trips to Rome and get to work fixing what you all screwed up? Start by getting rid of SHARES, resolving the contract issues and paying attention to the suggestions made by your front line employees.

The airline runs seven days a week. Why don't you lot try it for a change until things are running smoothly? You can enjoy family outings and downtime after the job is done.

You retards have no clue what you are doing. The customers are marching out the door while you all are trying to deflect blame from yourselves. Cut the crap and get it together before this airline spirals into Chapter Seven proceedings and the barbarians show up at the gates.

Wow! The number seven repeated itself several times in my post. Maybe it's a sign...

"So far, they're putting up with this," said Travis Christ, vice president of sales and marketing. "It's not too late."

At some times it seems as if he wants to wait and see how long is too late.

You seem to have this fixation with trailer parks. We're you perhaps born in one?

Just came back from France and England. agents in both cities are near paralyzed by shares. They still nearly 8 weeks after migration are not able to access international availability. They are terribly frustrated by this garbage system Tempe has inflicted on us. No matter what those idiots in IT say they will never be able to do the job . Give us our SABRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Give us our tools back to do our job, instead of this third world system.

Did I strike a nerve? Or are you just trying to put some distance between you and your roots?

Yawn. 🙄 Yes, you're right I'm a trailer park princess. You got it. I'm sitting on a milk crate lighting a Marb and chugging a Mountain Dew as we speak. Ouch, your keystrokes hurt me. Where's my beef jerky. 🙄

We used to be a really good airline (ask the FF that have been around awhile). Spoke to one of the managers in PHL today who was down in Tempe. When noon struck, he said that all the management coming out of the office all looked like 25-30 year olds. These people are still wet behind their ears...no wonder we have problems. If this lame management would just listen to the senior USAir employees who were around when this company was really quite good and get back to customer service and a great FF program along with GREAT service on the a/c not to mention hiring good quality employees (like we used to have), then we could get back on track. There is really not much you can do about ATC out of PHL, BOS and NYC, but it really isn't that difficult to run this company. All it takes is good common sense and bring our wages/benefits back to where they used to be so this company can attract good quality workers. If you have nothing to aspire for, then you aspire for nothing.

Can you tell me when USAir was ever considered 'good'?
