Sentrido, thanks for posting this link. I can't tell you how many times I had that conversation with client companies regarding outdated mission critical systems.
The conversations would invariably end with...
Company exec: We can't afford to replace that system right now.
Me: I don't think you can afford not to. You have no one left in your IT department who really understands the system or the language it was written in, and no one has seen the system documentation in years (if it ever existed). Can you afford a system failure?
Company exec: Absolutely not! Maybe we'll look at it again next year.
