You have a better chance at hitting lotto in NYC, than walking in on the job and locating an available tractor to work with. Ever since T8 was opened, the old motor pool assignments, where someone would log in/out tractors for the ground crews are gone. There is no control over ground tractors at present. Workers have actually gotten into fights and argument over who's tractor it is. Some tractors sit idle because they belong to a secret group of workers who just pass the tractors back and forth among themselves.

There are plenty of CSM ( managers ) running around with clip boards, they'll walk past tractors that are "parked", and won't dare question, why.

Even though traffic is down, there's still a shortage, and many tractors are in repair. Yes; the other problem is, should you find a tractor chances are it needs an electrical charge, you guessed it, a lot of charging stations are innop .

With cold weather heading our way, batteries are getting weaker faster, meaning more charges needed.

That sucks no wonder why AA's OPS is so screw up at JFK. The union has talked to management about it becuase its not just an OPS issue but a safety issue. Hands down the AA RAMP AGENT do a great job with what little they have!!!!!!!! Should never come to this one of largest companies in the world cant fix their little problems image the big ones!!!!!

How is management responsible for FSC's not acting like adults with their equipment?...

It's like the guys who blame management for a tug running out of gas (never mind it was one of their union brothers who was too lazy to bring it to the pump) or for too many tractors being inop due to avoidable damage (management doesn't force a driver texting on their iPhone to hit parked objects...)

Question: What should be the role of the CSM ( Manager ) in this situation:

A- correct the problem

B - just walk away

Yes they do have the responsibility to a certain extend because they order equipment and they factor in everything from damage to mechanical. They should have enough to cover their OPS at a given time and few spares for any reasons. The employees have responsibilities also that is to take care of equipment and respect for their fellow employee!!!!!! Don't forget management creates rules and regulations on that aspect of destroying company property!!!!!! Also management knows what they have out service and is up them to put pressure on repair service!!!!!! I understand theirs budget for everything!!!!

A, They are their for that reason to up hold the company's policies. If they dont fix it. they blame employee anyhow for any delays!!!!!

You know whats so funny about you eric you never will put any responsibilty on management for anything bad, only good. At least most union guys that post here admit that the union part of things is not a perfect senario. And according to you, you dont work at AA anymore why do you spend so much time on here defending them, is because you dont have a life , or are you a bold face liar

Disagree E.

Managements job is to nip bad behavior in the bud whenever it pops up at all levels.

At least 20 times in the past year, I've called for a ramp manager after some ramp chaos that at times has threatened safety and equipment. They have never showed up. What I've seen from my second story office window is abject, total neglect from those charged to run the system.

My dog demonstrates more management skill watching my kids cut the grass than what I see out the cockpit window on a daily basis.

This eolesen guy has to be a company rat posting on company time................................

Runwaysticker,

While I disagree with Eolesen as to who is mainly at fault, he does have a point
."What line?"
My favorite recent quote from a ramper after opening my window to inform him why we took a 8 minute delay because of equipment over the safety line prohibited taxi in. He was standing right on the painted line.

Another common favorite is a tractor driver moving toward a gap 2" narrower than the vehicle he's driving. Solution, hit the gas and punch through

Sad to see so many people think it's OK to treat work provided equipment any differently than they'd treat their own property.

I remember working in JFK in the 90's and recall fleet service clerks literally breaking the front windshields out of tractors totally because it was to hot and then cry about it when it rained...Pretty sad !!

Who was the clown in JFK that crunched N335 last week? We just completed a heavy on the dog gone thing!!! Its not like that ol` airplane is gonna just jump in front of you!

"Well folks it looks like the aircraft pictured below just returned from a test flight after a heavy check. While performing some more checks the ground proximity was deactivted for some tests. The landing gear handle was actuated and SUPRISE!!! Someone forgot to put in the nose gear pin. Preliminary reports also indicate there is damage to one of the main landing gear as well. I guess those Tulsa boys wont feel so bad about ripping that forward entry door off of that 777 they just completed the heavy on anymore.
This is what happens when you dont follow procedures. Plain and simple."

Maybe it was this guy!!
