I'm sorry, but I can't "let this go" !!!!!!!!!

With NW and DL going into The BK hell hole, this put's CO "SQUARELY" into the "limelight"

You would think this board would be buzzing with activity. BUT no, all I see is the "SAME OL' *HIT" posts. ( "I just had an Interview in Newark... BLAH-BLAH-BLAH")

Unbelievable !!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes it is not bad to be flying under the radar. CO does not have that many new jets coming on line and with everything going on around town, the wait-and-see approach might not be that be right now. Just my thoughts...............yeah it is quiet here chirp............chirp..............chirp.................

By your post you would think CO is owned by one of these carriers much like Comair is. One would think that by the cuts these two plan to put in place, that all airlines, except the discounters, would be "SQUARELY" into the "Limelight" as you put it. See todays, WN, JB, and Airtrans have hundreds of airplane coming that they are just looking for somewhere to put them. AA seems to be at the front of the "light" as these guys start deploying their aircraft in the FL and JFK markets.

Yea I know this forum doesn't really get any attention you know why, its because Continental is not on the news and you know why. Its because Continental is making a profit  and there doing the best I think of legidary carriers right now and Continental should keep it up because we really need them B)

I am an employee(FA) of CAL and am always lookimg for more action on this site. Im glad we're doing "less worse" than the others, but believe me, management is still using Lorenzo-type tactics to try to convince us to take cuts. Too bad management is the highest compenssated in the industry, while labor has been at the bottom of the pile. Only through default are we near the top.The biggest rumor on campus is that Bethune is working out a deal to hook CAL up with Untied. Also, will CAL do BK before the Oct 17th deadline?

Yes they both showed a profit for the 2quarter, but at CAL they continually remind us of how expensive fuel is, which is a legitimate concern. They might do BK before the laws change in Oct, but then there books will be opened up for everyone to see how well they pay themselves(upper mgmt). Ther are also many places where an airline can hide money. CAL owns COPA, Air Mike Chelsea Catering and a bunch of other subsidiaries from the Lorenzo days where they funnel a lot of money. If oil hits 100/bbl, employees can work for free and the airline would still lose money. Everyone is tired of how its all labors fault when thing go wrong. Look at my post at the NWA forum about how the big dogs at NWA and Delta are paying themselves while stripping away jobs and pensions. They should all go to jail like Kozlowski from TYCO will be for the next 25 years!!!

"feather",

I really don't mean to disrespect CO. For what It's worth, I think you guys have done a helluva job in EWR.

The biggest difference I see between CO, and AA right now, is the $4B in cash AA is "hoarding"

With US/HP nothing more than a LCC with F/C seats, UA makes the least sense for CO to team with, because you've got some decent asia routes. Thinking along "those" lines, it makes MORE sense for CO to team with DL, NOT NW.
(AA/CO does'nt make sense because of EWR)

Just my 2 cents worth, (excluding a/c and hubs) (And because It's ALL ABOUT ASIA !!!!), I could see CO/DL....AA/NW.........UA to stand alone, with a little bit more east coast domestic, via a piece of the US/HP (overlap) pie.

Wouldn't it more sense to just wait things out a little re the Pac Rim? Routes/aircraft might be had for a lot less within the next couple of years if the Avian Flu gets going, no?!

CAL did have a great quarter, at least if compared to AMR, since these are the only ones not using CH 11, so far...

And finally oil is breaking down, below $50 by spring, hopefully!

You need to get over the wild conspiracy about how "management" is hiding money and living off the backs of the employees, ever hear of WorldCom?

Fact is that the last two quarters showed a profit and that was without a F/A pay cut, so you really have zero room to complain about how you getting crewed. If anything the rest of us are taking the brunt of the cost savings while the F/A cost on by at normal wages.. Thanks a lot!

A friend of mine works there and was told in their "Daily News Update" that the F/A's are negoiating. They will eventually come to an agreement. They probably won't take a bigger pay cut as management had stated early on. The cut will be the same or less than the original one asked for, it will just run for a year or two longer than the rest of the employees cuts.

The irony here is that, going forward in the long term, the group failed to realize that times will change and things will get good again,. When they do get good again and the different groups are coming up for contract negotiations you better bet the company will remember how they played hardball on the cuts when asking for more money and better work rules...

Is it true that a 14yr west agents gets $14.00 per hour. I recently met one in sd and that is what she said.
