Do you actually LIVE in CLT?

Having lived in Manhattan for 12 years, I have found CLT a pretty good place to live. It's all in what you are looking for. No place will EVER compare to NYC, so I don't even try.

..................................

I have an easier life in CLT. She has grown on me. Perfect? No. Liveable? Absolutely.

I actually agree with your post. The two places are not even remotely comparable. And if CLT works for you, great!

I find it interesting how so many people just cannot stay away from NYC, yet take a multitude of opportunities to come here (even from North Caroline) and stand around Times Square like the bumpkins they are and whine about it. It's unlikely that you will find Manhattanites crowding "uptown Charlotte." The world comes here because it is a world-class city, and I am delighted to be a part of it everyday.

And please don't discount CLT's arts programs. Look at the huge North Carolina Performing Arts Center just northeast of the city. (Hint: it looks like a NASCAR race track.)

Mr Aero Man asked me to stay in NYC. Happily, I do to the extent that I can. In fact, I have always said that I would rather be on a bread line in Manhattan than be king of North Carolina. But please, Mr Aero Man, reciprocate and stay the hell out of NYC. When the wife wants some real life (like a Broadway play, world-class shopping, etc) stay home and find it in CLT. Not.

dont relocate, commute its your best bid, back in 1988 during the usair/peidmont deal i went from clt to ind to roanoke to gso to tpa chasing the 737 c ck and stability,it was all in illussion.
settle your family/yourself where you would like to live
and go back and forth

Looking at www.realtor.com , noticing that homes in the CLT area are actually less expensive (more inexpensive?) than the PIT area. Is that right or am I just looking at dumpy houses? How are the property taxes at CLT compared to Allegheny County?

What I'm looking at, specifically, are three bedrooms, two baths, minimum.

In Allegheny county, the taxes suck.

In the adjacent counties (notably Beaver and Butler) they are quite sane.

What you find so interesting about people not staying away from NYC is a little thing called tourism. It's big business in lots of places including NYC. You choose to live in the big city so putting up with what you call "bumpkins" is just something you'll have to deal with friend. The fact is their "bumpkin" money spends just like your arrogant NYC money and keeps a lot of people in business so I wouldn't be so quick to look down my nose at them if I were you.
The NCPAC you refer to has been around a long time as has NASCAR and if you've been up on your area's news you won't be surprised there is a group of investors that want to build a track in NYC and bring NASCAR to town. What will you do when the Clampet kin folk invade your great white north for a big ol' race? Not to worry you can count out any people clamoring to get into the city to fill the track. You see, the people filling those stands will be Manhattanites, they might even live in your neighborhood and god forbid   you may even know one or two but I'm sure they'll keep it to themselves so as not to take a leak in your cheerio's of a lifestyle. 😀
One thing you won't ever have to worry about is me coming to NYC. I once got a free trip offered to me to go to NYC all expenses paid and I turned it down. I've never been to Manhattan and am glad to say I'll never step foot in Times Square or any part of NYC. I use to live in NY a long time ago and left to get away from people like you. The wife and I have plenty of real life right where we live and don't need or want to experience what you call real life in that cesspool. We all have clothes on our backs similar to what can be found in NYC but I guarantee you we pay a lot less for it than you do. Yep, us kuntry folk do just fine here in uptown or downtown NC.
I'd like to invite you to Uptown Charlotte sometime though. You'd be easy to spot with your peace sign shirt, your earring, your khaki shorts and your open toed sandals on looking down at people laughing at them while you are driving around in your car with a green peace bumper sticker in the back window. We'd all love to see you drive down that street in Charlotte. We'd see you coming from miles away.
Pick your trips carefully there ol' chap. We don't want or need your kind in our fair city as when you come you bring your whacky beliefs with you.

And not only that you don't even have to go to church in CLT. Mayberry RFD is on 2 hours a day.

All the moral teachin you need right there.

I'm staying out of this civil war. I love both places. :cop:

Seriously, it got down to dollars and sense. Also, the internet really has made the "it's first in NYC or LAX or SFO" ALMOST obsolete. It was fun to live in NYC before the internet. Now I can download the music fresh out of NYC and check the net and purchase the latest fashions from the comfort of my home AND wander up to the Big Apple when I need a bite. Wow, life is grand!!

Now shake hands, eat some turkey, and have some eggnog...BOYS!

Um, how about the Parkway in PIT. From the airport to downtown the road changes numbers 3 times.

Did you see the Parkway after the snowstorm this week? That was ugly. Funny thing about PIT is that many roads are based on old horse trails from the 18th Century and many haven't deviated from the original trails. My joke is that PIT roads were designed by a drunk on a mule.
