Sorry to pee all over the Doug Parker fan club, but AA was actually the first airline to charge for the first checked bag - and stood alone until UA and then US finally joined the club:

Yeah, damn those terrible America West folks, what did they ever do for Useless Air? Profits? Best profitable quarter ever?

Anyone that can make a record profit with all the entitlement slugs that AWA inherited when they bought Useless is a genius.

So I should not be a bit peeved since 2005, my airline career has stagnated, our pilots have been furloughed, my union has been thrown out only to pay an association that hires attorneys to sue fellow pilots it claims to represent? A faux union created to disenfranchise me and my co-workers while picking our pockets to benefit pilots of the former US Air. If the American brand gives me the opportunity to have a bargaining agent under APA rather than an agent of extortion, I'd be happy to see the US Air brand dead and buried.
