[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]You need happy front line employees to deliver a good product to your customers, she says. And in the case of an airline, that product needs to be safe. "Every day people are deciding whether or not to board that plane and every day they can make different choices. The American board and top management need to take this incredibly seriously".[/background]

[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]The airline industry is famous for "barrowing" ideas that work from one airline to the next. But it seems as though AA has never gotten around to looking at the good relations that SWA has with their employees. [/background]
[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]Having company friendly work rules with high pay is OK, but having low pay and bad work rules makes for an unhappy workforce. [/background]

I don't care if she is a professor at the Harvard School of Business, she obviously doesn't see the big picture. The reason we are in this mess is because the employees are paid too much. And, we have too many of them--especially mechanics.

Cynical? Moi?

It is so ingrained in this company to blame someone else if it wasn't so sad to watch it would be funny. You would think the seat story would be handled with a little finnese...... It's a great example how it is never "our"fault or maybe a bad decision. Nope its that nasty old coffee and soda! Now what changed? Maybe a new vendor? Same seats same coffee, I know maybe its the new coke? Couldn't be us! Oh no don't own up to it blame someone or something else....

There ain't no fixing AA.

It's over...

AA has to get up and dance the merger jig but the only guy asking for it to dance is two feet shorter, with bad breath, haircut and a bad case of acne ( USAir ).

How to fix AA? I know, I know: Install AA-washout Doug Parker at the helm. That will fix what ails ya.

They were left at the altar a couple of times already. Besides the divorce or marriage 🙄 between the east and west isn't finalized yet!

If I remember correctly Parker wasn't a wash out. In the early 90's he was recruited by NW amid the law suit between the two carriers.

I find it so interesting that after having been hammered for so many years with, "You chose to stay", "Didn't you see the writing on the wall", "You were in bk" that there is still this sense of entitlement that AA will come out on top regardless of the old, broken planes, the broken spirit of the employees and most importantly the failure of the mangt. of this company to negotiate in good faith to reach an honest CBA with their employees. When you see so many no cost items as "must haves" and ensuring that the unions don't fuss about the bonus payments(as a top priority) we all know will be coming, it is hard to see a positive outcome for this continuing implosion.

How to fix AA.

1. Lay off all of upper management.
2. Hire their secretaries to do the jobs.
3. Double their pay, but don't give the secretaries all the wonderful benefits and perks. (save lotsa money that way)

They couldn't do any worse than what we've got; they would probably do much better.

How to fix AA #2.

1.Fire all of AA's upper management.
2. Hire all of Southwest's upper management that you can.
3. Give all the fired AA management letters of recommendation to USAir and Southwest.

Shallow Hal much? Maybe you're finally beginning to see what's behind you're glossy facade. Something of value maintains that value...I think it says more about AA than US.

How to fix AA #3.

1. Fire all of upper management. (this seems to be a given)
2. Hire eolesen. He knows all, sees all, (ask him) and can run AA better than what we got.
3. I suspect that he would be happy to be back at AA.
