Southwest has had an interest, or at least pretended to, in almost every BK situation. Will this DL/NW BK just allow for the mighty WN to gain more market share and add NEW cities such as CVG almost overnight.. They have 10 more planes coming this year and 26 with option for 8 next.

I'd think it's more likely we'd see JetBlue move here than Southwest. Southwest is too busy trying to overturn the Wright Amendment to worry about Atlanta.

jet blue has already come and gone from ATL. no one thought that SW would move in to PIT or Philly and look at them now!

There aren't enough gates in ATL right now. Airtran wants more gates but can't obtain them. WN would not try to step into a market as big as ATL without being able to significantly grow it. Further, there are LCCs in every major WN market from ATL already.

I think most of you are idiots. No one is moving in on ATL. any time soon. Before too long Air-Tran will have more competition than they can handle. Fuel prices are getting them too and soone than they would like they'll have to start paying to maintain those new aircraft thet are not too new anymore !

There is no way that SWA will move on ATL unless DL gives up in the area of 15 to 20 gates. And that ain't gunna happn!!!! SWA is not getting any more planes until Boeing workers go back to work. I actually look for SWA to go out and acquire some used -300s or -700s(if any are even available) to make up for the aircraft they are not getting if the strike goes on to long. Just my thoughts.........................

Not necessary, at least not yet. Shutting down ops in MSY freed up 9 aircraft. The flight schedule for the rest of the year was built based on scheduled A/C deliveries. The jets that were operating MSY flights are now essentially spares, though one has been dedicated to MSY relief flights. Should the Boeing strike drag on, the spares will re-enter service as needed to take the place of delayed deliveries.
