One of the scabs called the Local 104 (Teamsters) wanted the Teamsters to do the same - He was told we were not interested.
The ground workers union at Northwest Airlines Inc. wants to organize the company's mechanics, hired to replace those who went on strike in August.
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers is collecting signatures from 275 Northwest mechanics who work at Detroit Metro Airport to prompt an election so those mechanics can have a chance to vote in the IAM as their union.

Hey? Where is 700UW and his partner DELLDUDE on this subject? They are everywhere else on this board? Is ti true that the IAM is trying to organize the scab mechanics at NW?
Does the IAM have any scruples whatsoever? The ground workers union at Northwest Airlines Inc. wants to organize the company's mechanics, hired to replace those who went on strike in August.

I agree with you on that 100000%. I cant even imagine how any scab especially PTO who is a union hater even want to be in a union let alone a scabby union such as the iamNo union should ever attempt to organize SCABS, be it AMFA, IAM, IBT, TWU it does not matter. That is a slap in the face to those men and women who did the honorable act of standing their ground and suffered the hardship of a strike.
I will not be a part of a union that lowers itself to that degree ever!
I ask because the IAM claims that they have 275 signatures. Did the IAM solicit for these signatures at DTW? If so where? Do they advertise a drive or is there some type of secret set up that only unionist are privy too? There are a reported 860 mechanics system wide, I think it is more along the lines of 750. DTW only has a portion of these mechanics so 275 signatures coming from DTW alone is a substantial number. I don't know how many mechanics are here at DTW but 275 is pretty damn close to being all of them. You would think that at least one person in my zone would know something about this. That is why I think this whole story is BS."How does a card drive work?"
...So why do you ask SCAB?
