anyone care to comment on the latest news? Yeah...we get our trade flexibility....but come on DOH? Sounds like getting stapled....what is fair anymore?

What's not fair about it? We're not getting stapled at all. Our East counterparts don't have all THAT much seniority us...a few years yes but NOTHING like the pilot/inflight groups.
Frankly, I'm happier about the shift flexibility because it means I SHOULD get my 4 10 hour days back.

I havent seen any info on this yet. Does that mean the current US agents will get the HP swap flexibility? As far as the DOH thing, it depends on what city you work at. You might be surprised at some combined cities that have quite a few US agents on the bottom of the combined list. We have 4 full timers and 8 part timers who have just been hired (earliest hire date 7/4/05) so they might beg to differ about the stapling job. Now considering that in some stations, EVEN those of us with 21 years WERE 3 from the bottom FT, I really dont see where someone who is FT with 5 or 6 years who might be in a combined city can complain. 5-6 vs 21? Do you see a little difference here? Getting stapled would mean ALL the HP agents (or US) would go below the other group. That is not happening here. Also, when transfer is opened up, HP agents will have about 50? more cities to exercise their seniority in. In many of the cities where HP is the larger carrier, you might have 4 or 5 US agents with 20-30 years at the top, then its all the HP agents, then the US newhires that took the place of the EO people. When the combined list is officially put out, then we can discuss this in more detail. Until then, its all speculation.

teamster.org....check it out....

IF the company accepts the proposals, everyone will have the HP flexibility and seniority will be straight DOH. (I'd sure like to know when that fence date is going up though.)
Everyone here at West is so scared about this senioity thing...wish I knew for sure why. Sure, there's a lot more agents with East, but seriously, unless you're in PIT of somewhere like that, it won't affect you much at all. (And heck, if I go to where I'd like to go, it STILL won't affect me all that much!)
Do not worry so much about this. We're seeing a LOT more changes to the positive for us Westies!!!

Actually PIT is contracted to US, there are no HP agents there. There are quite a few combined cities that have a much larger HP agent count than a US agent count thanks to the staffing levels that old US management used. In many of these cities, you have a couple oldies and then a big gap where people took the EO and have lots of newbie US agents. I'm sure there are a couple of cities where the HP people might look like they were "stapled" to the bottom of the US agents, but there are many more US flights in these cities so the HP agents should still have a good chance to get something similar to what they are expecting now in shift hours. I doubt the bottom HP agent in FLL has weekends off right? 😉

And the Easties would welcome the changes to the shift trade and hours. I'd love to work 4-10 hour days and I'm sure there are some pt agents who would love 3 or 4 day workweeks as well.
