In recent years, I understand that the number of illegal immigrants being sent back to Mexico has dropped significantly. I don't know whether this is due to practical considerations (budget?) or political ones (trying to gather more of the hispanic vote) - but either way the law should be enforced.

Not only a drop in Mexican immigrants; but the number of all "expelled" nationalities are substantially less, on average, in the 2000's than the 1990's.
