B) I have heard that the AWA/US model could be repeated by IAI/NWA and JBLU/DAL with the Low Cost Carrier's management running the show? Also is US done or could the investors be pushing for more, say US and one of the remaing majors? What will the US Airline industry look like in 2 years? If foriegn ownership issues are resolved what would a real open skies look like? Would LH or BA partner with US?

I just realized if foreign ownership was no longer an issue US and AC would be a natural, North Americas biggest/best carrier?

Didn't you get the memo? With the absence of certain posters, we no longer discuss industry trends on this board. It's all about labor issues, which according to most posters are the real and sole driver of industry developments, well actually, the central driver of all world events.

Having said that, I don't see the more diffuse p2p low-costs getting involved in major acquisition, but the more hub-centric newbies, like AirTran and Frontier might be attracting interest from financiers in regard to consolidation.

Well...it appears UAL is bidding for some of IFLY's assets.

Row, I think that the reason you feel that labor issues are the only one discussed is, because they are. It seems to me, that the industry as a whole is shooting from the hip, there are no trends, except to slam labor; the only costs easily controlled (especially in CH11). Legacy managements, as a whole, have no idea what to do to be profitable. Now we are putting together large cash deals to give management time to figure out what to do. Investors are willing to fork out the cash in these HIGH RISKS VENTURES, in hopes of giant gains.

As Robert Crandell said, "Revenue is the key." Too much time and energy is being focused on costs savings and market presevation, and not enough on revenue generation. There has to be a unique way to generate revenue to make the legacy carriers profitable.

DENVER HUB... UAL (TED) Fly A320's, just one more for our happy little airline. I BET THAT IS ON A BLACKBOARD SOME WERE.

Don't understand where in the hell you are coming from........US has need an mid continent Hub for years (they scrapped IND and MCI years back) STL is available but yet you think UAL is going to hand over TED? Either your eggnog had too much brandy or you have inhaled.

Look at it this way, Less compaction with 3 airlines as ONE and you get the A320 a/c match for our fleet. ( UAL IS OVER TED WILL BE THERE LCC). More pay cuts and layoffs are on there way as they trim down UAL and cut the top pay union techs and flight crews.( I do hope Iam wrong but this is what I see.)AND THE EGGNOG WAS GOOD. lol

Well then you are obviously very uninformed.

If I remember correctly, it was US Air that took additional paycuts. UAL will not be "trimming" down the operation, if that had been the plan it would have already happened (not after receiving billions...YES BILLIONS... of $$$ of exit financing and while hiring new off the streets)

I think its all about costs in den I understand they are very high. I thought that was the main reason that ual and co dropped out of den.
