Just some interesting highlights from the April D141 Messenger, the IAM newsletter.
Of the 8 senior officers, only 1 is from US – the recently appointed gentleman from PHL. The others are UA, with perhaps one from Aloha or Hawaiian.
Of the 22 assistant general chairmen, only 4 are US – one from PHL, one from PIT, and two from BOS (what have these guys got against southerners? Anybody ever hear of CLT?) The other 18 AGC’s are mostly from UA.
Interestingly, the UA AGC’s have been assigned to cover many of the US stations. NO US AGC’s have been assigned ANY UA stations. One wonders where the UA AGC’s acquired the knowledge of the US contract necessary to enforce it – oh, wait, the current contract can be written on a cocktail napkin. I also wonder why the US AGC’s are incapable of enforcing the UA contract anywhere?
Moreover, the PIT US AGC has been assigned PIT and JAX, one BOS AGC assigned to BWI and RDU, one BOS AGC got CLT, BOS, MHT and PVD, while the PHL AGC got MCO, FLL, TPA, PBI, DCA, LGA and EWR.
One would divine from this that one of the BOS AGC’s and the one from PIT would be concerned about being ‘rightsized’, as they only have two stations each, and only one airline to cover. Not to fear; according to the Messenger, the former AGC who never arbitrated a case landed a district job. The IAM takes care of their own.
I wonder what the two boys from Philly delivered? They are living large.
The Messenger makes no mention of 22 outsourced US stations.
Make of it what you will
