well when you continue the same inflationary practices as the past 5 presidents you are just as responsible, hope and change my ass... we could raise the minimum wage 10 dollars more an hour(and we should by the way) because congress and past presidents continue to cause inflation... they want to you to believe that the dollar hasnt changed...but it has... its no longer what it was worth just a few years ago...700UW said:

If congress isnt going to either revalue the dollar (which would be messy) or raise minimum wages to compensate for real inflation, every year... then other compensations are necessary. such as food stamps to bridge the gap.
the argument has been so misconstrued we arent fighting the right things, we shouldnt be demanding that the minimum wage is necessary because businesses are greedy though to compensate for a falling dollar businesses need to raise prices, there are those neocons that will argue that thats a necessary evil, but will argue against compensating it by paying more to their workers so they can compensate for the same inflation... because in essential fact that fact that the dollar is less, means that businesses are getting more bang for their buck when paying their employees, so when raising wages to compensate for inflation after a business raises prices for the same thing, doesnt hurt a company its the same pay..
to help this congress should release new pay rates... it should start on a certain date. that the dollar is worth this since we are off the gold standard and on the petrol standard, we should know how much oil a single dollar will buy. so on jan 1 2014 its hypothetical .01 barrels congress should release the next years numbers say jan 1 2015 .0125 barrels then businesses have to compensate accordingly by raising wages by that rate. then we dont have to do this every few years. and its no longer a political football..
personally id much rather us go back to the gold standard,(or maybe the silver standard, some precious metal) something you can touch something you can get for your dollars) but we need to have a basis flat line of what the dollar is worth
so year over year we can figure out how much we lose on inflation, and businesses will not be screwed can raise rates and wages for a fair manner
its not either the businesses or the workers fault, this is flat on congress, the president(several of them) and this failed experiment we call the federal reserve, and instead of blaming republicans or democrats we should realize that the fault lies with us all and we should fix it, not kick the can down the road..
