'it's High Noon' For Unions, Airline

I like this thread because it gets to the heart of the matter, and underscores the reason why I don't think US Airways will survive this time around.

In a nutshell, that, friends, is why US Airways will not survive this crisis.

My best wishes to all in these trying times for our industry.

You're right, 100% correct speaking what common sense is saying and it's saying, it's over. If I didn't believe that with my entire being I would have not retired and moved on to another industry. I too extend my best wishes to all the employees many of who are my personal friends.

There is no thinking required...it's so bad many, myself included retired before our time just to keep our sanity. I still have a good 10-15 years to work but decided the cost of staying and putting up with it all was more then leaving and moving on. I am working for less money, after the latest cuts not a lot less and way better benefits all around and most important for the first time in almost 15 years, PEACE of mind which is priceless.

God help all the employees at U and other carries because what's happening to airline employees requires divine intervention to cope.

There is no doubt about Labor's plans given the card your company played. Classic example of "Godfather reversed" where labor was given a proposal it had to refuse.
Although I look up at the scoreboard and see 'game over' except for some
'junk time' left on the clock, some drama remains to be seen as a result of the remaining 'mop up' plays...none of which can possibly change the outcome however.

If I'm management I desperately want to set up labor to be the perceived reason why 25,000 workers will lose their jobs. Amazingly, even with the sickness of Frank Lorenzo, many think Labor was the result of the demise of Eastern.

If I'm Labor, I want to do my best in representing the workers and protecting dignity, honor, and the future, even if that means, 'tough love'. A Collective Bargaining Agent must guard against its own industry interests which may end up being the single biggest influential factor superceding the representation of US AIRWAYS workers. Class action lawsuits seeking damages could then fly on alot longer than your company.

Difficult situation indeed.
