Has anyone heard if JFK is going to begin becoming a predomitly a 737 base on the narrow body side. I'm just asking, because a friend of mine called me ( IMA bassed) if I'd heard this, she isn't 737 qualified and said the 757 is dwindling and of course she heard this roumor.

Thanks

Don't know about AA changing crew bases, but its worth noting that I have upcoming TPA-JFK and JFK-SAN scheduled as 738s this spring. Never seen 738s at JFK before but they are at LGA and EWR.

738s have flown at JFK in the past. 10 years ago I flew on 738s between JFK and SJC.

Yes, the plan is to have the 737's primarily replace the MD80's out of JFK by years end. The recent sked change of 11/18 brought new flights along with the 737. As of yet, I haven't seen the 737 replace the 757 on any particular route, just the MD80.

There where over 40 737/757 lines in the December bidsheet. This is the most 737 lines that I have ever seen @JFK

Does anyone know which stations AA has designated non-MD 80? It seems to me BOS, JFK (come November) and MIA. I don't think it would take much for LAX to go MD-80 free as there are a few odd flights to DFW, SFO, and STL on MDs that could easily be switched to 738s.

Why are employees against 738s replacing MD-80s? From my limited understanding, it seems if anything the 738 provides more work and pay to the employees since it requires 4 FAs vs. 3 on the MD-80 and the cockpit pay is slightly higher. Why do some on this board dislike it?

I don't know where you get that impression from...It's time to replace them.

I think 99.99 of employees rather work a 737 than
an MD80. There are a lot of f/a's that are not qualify on
the 737 for a whole bunch of different reasons but I can
tell you without a doubt that anyone with common sense rather
work on a new aircraft than one that is over 20 years old.

10 years ago we flew 767-200 to SJC from JFK and then maybe a 757 until AA discontinued the trip. I remember a 737 on BOS-SAN but never JFK-SJC. I've been in NY for 20 years .

Even some our 737's are getting up there in age. The first ones have been around for 15 years or so.

Thats new compared to what a lot of us drive to work.

I'd rather have a new car and work a DC-3 than drive an old car and work a new plane and I dont think I'm just the .01% of the workforce that feels that way.

I worked JFK-SJC on 37's quite a bit, 231 was the trip number IIRC.
