JFK mechanics are being asked to volunteer to move to LGA with the end of the A300 B check nearing its end. Doesn't appear there will be an A300 B check replacement. In addition, there be layoffs.

Since there offering spots at LGA i can not imagine the layoff numbers are going to be big at all if any my guess would be like maybe 5 or 10 guys at most but this is just my opinion.

Best of luck for the JFK guys, Change, <_< I know many guys in the City would luv to xfer to MIA, you would leave the warm MIA to go to NYC, but each his own............
<_< ------ Home is always home!!! No matter what the climate!------- Runway,------ MCI has nothing to brag about in that department now does it? But, now it's home! Neither does DFW , or TUL for that matter, in these hot summer days!

Hopefully this will work out so few people as possible will be affected. Any word on possible retirements at JFK?

We're hearing the going to grant the VBRs to about 6 or 7 mechanics at JFK and others at LGA and EWR.

I dont understand why they dont offer up VBR's for all the line stations then back fill with transfers here and there and if they still need people at that point then they should do upgrades, then the AMT's that want to keep working will stay employed and the ones that want to go, go!!!!!
This company is something else they are unbelievable with all there tactics....

<_< ------ JET, I know what they'd tell you!----- That they're in business to run an Airline, not accommodate AMT's!!!

We the employees (all the title groups) make up the airline, ultimately what we do in our everyday duties are a reflection of the airline to the customers if there is no moral customer experience goes down the drain those customers will probably fly other airlines when customers do that we all lose it's about time that the airline does something for there employee's instead of always harassing there own people, its a shame what they have done to this airline. Where there is moral there is a happier work force where there is a happier work force things tend to run alot smoother I know I've been in the industry for 15 years now and I have seen it getting worse and worse year after year because of AA VP's greed and low level management making poor decisions and there arrogance towards there employees.

<_< ------ Jet, I totally agree with you! But todays management could care less! That's the fact of it! And I've been in this business for 40 years, and have seen what deregulation has done, and it's not pretty! It's a business, nothing more!

Looks to me like the "tactics" being used are really just a "by the book" RIF.
