Anyone with a comment on last week's ruling by the judge saying NWA must buy back the stock issued to employees back in '93? I can't believe there isn't anything on this here yet.

Also, what are the chances that the announcement today by NWA management that they'll now seek $1.1 billion in employee concessions is tied to this.

Cheers,
Z B)

If you ask me, I'd say it's a little too ironic that after being ordered to pay roughly $200 million back that they're now asking for the same in givebacks. Typical NWA mgmt. Will it ever end?

As far as I'm concerned senior mgmt. can piss up a rope.

The IAM should tell them they'd be willing to let the stock buyback slide in order to forgo the concession request.

First, I'm sure they will try any and all available appeals/delays to this ruling. Then, if those are exhaulsted, I think they would try the BK route before they will actually pay out the 286Mil + penalties. BOHICA.

I can understand NWA's desire to delay the payments, given the current state of affairs. That being said, an agreement is an agreement; I just don't think anyone imagined that 10 years down the road the company would in worse condition than they were then.

They should of paid it back when they were supposed to. Instead they reneged on the deal via loopholes.

I agree; a deal's a deal. I wonder how receptive everyone would have been if the company was a bit more forthright ("guys, we're bleeding red ink.")?

Telling us it was because "we're based in Delaware" while we had/have over 2B in the bank was just insulting.

Looking back I wish I had dumped this worthless stock, back when it was
worth around $55.00 per share. I doubt it will ever be worth that much again.

The company probably already thought of this idea as another way of avoiding the buyback.
