Okay. Your skills at connecting dots, as historically demonstrated, is pretty much lacking.

Simply outsourcing an advertised service does not absolve the contracting company of responsibility, ever. To attempt to deflect blame by saying they are really not "of" us, though we profit by their outsourced "services", is not exactly the height of the conservative meme of "personal responsibility" now, is it?

It turns out that the lady in question was the daughter in law of NYC Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum. This will be really interesting--a relative of a high powered NYC elected official dies in police custody. The latest theory is she inadvertently choked herself trying to get out of the hand cuffs.

While thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends, I think the lady in question bears some culpability here as well......

I guess this another one where truth is stranger than fiction.

Perhaps someone familiar with police procedure can shed some light on this, but is it normal to leave someone in cuffs after they are placed into a holding celll?
I thought cuffs are used to restrain a prisoner during transport or sitting at the booking desk at the the police station. Once the suspect is in a cell, shouldn't the cuffs be removed?

Depending on the behavior of the individual, the cuffs can be removed or left on if they are alone in the cell. According to another article I read she was trying to bring the handcuffs from behind her to in front of her when she choked herself, possibly from positional asphyxia. It says department policy requires officers to check on prisoners every 15 minutes. Officers checked on her after 5-10 minutes and upon finding her unconscious began CPR.

But this is a sad event. She was a mother of three and was on her way to seek help. This is in no way Mesa or US's fault. If there is fault at all, it is with the police for leaving her alone.

Just saw a new revelation on CNN (confirmed by the family's lawyer) that she was on her way to an alcohol rehab/treatment facility in Tucson. Perhaps her and alcohol were having one final hoorah causing her to be late to the flight and then consequently flip out.

sky high states: I've had this problem INFLIGHT. Someone going to rehab and having problems physically dealing with "withdrawal" while FLYING. Air Fares are REASONABLE now, why would anyone travel ALONE to an alcohol rehab facility? WHERE WAS HER FAMILY?

Heck our new world brownshirts even taser people while handcuffed. Learning from abu ghraib, I guess.

Next, we will have the brownshirts boffing a prisoners kids to get them to talk, just like they did at abu ghraib. I really like how the dude from PHX contractee boffed a local rulers eleven year old boy to get the ruler to talk. Videos too.

I guess she wasn't too determined to do anything about her alcohol problem if she couldn't lay off the sauce while enroute to an inpatient drug and alcohol treatment facility. She brought it on herself.
