According to Rueters, the ATSB must approve any bid by US Airways to sell major assets, which are currently held as collateral for its loan guarantee. Neither the government nor other key unsecured creditors objected to the Republic financing deal or the extra time to file a reorganization plan.

Christopher Chiames, its vice president of corporate affairs, said US Airways is talking to several parties about investing. As to the two regional airlines that have already done so, Chiames said, "No one's twisting their arm. These are smart business people and they make investment decisions based on what's good for them.

I wonder if at some point David Bronner and RSA were considered "smart business people"? I wonder if they still are?
