Layoffs Are Coming!

Read a memo from GARY YINGST tonight. It announced that mechanics will be given the STAND in STEAD option for the upcoming layoffs. What a joke it was!They might pay a severance but no $12,500. Looks like most of the layoffs are gonna be at the line stations.

The memo showed up last night on our crew chief's desk here at AFW,along with something off of jetnet about only 703 aircraft will be in our fleet by SEPT. How come this memo wasn't put out in TULSA? Would it have spoiled the TWU's dog and pony show yesterday?

So you are stating that this is not true?


The fact is that at the lines we have a creeping layoff. The company is not replacing workers who retire, quit or are fired. They have started issueing CR-1s for things like non-compliances and unavoidable delays. The beatings will continue until morale improves and the mighty TWU with all their AFL-CIO power can do nothing.

The fact is that the TWU has zero support at the lines now anyway, however with the announcement of yet another layoff, despite the fact that we gave the most concessions in the industry, this may finally be the thing that gets line mechanics to withdraw financial support of the crooked TWU.

Here at the lines we are exposed to other workers from other airlines. Even the non-union workers are shocked at what we gave up, they do better than us. The feeling out on the line is that we are non-union, the only real difference between us and the worst scab outfit is that we pay dues.

And if this memo appears, then does it become a typical TWU lie?

Or is it a fact and there will be a reduction in force?

Let's do this the traditional way.

Let's have an early out package and charge it to those who have not been hired yet.

Have you noticed that whenever there is a layoff coming which may effect protected employees the union rolls over and forefits the 12500 that would have been paid to us.There is a pattern here and it borders on a DFR violation.Since whenever the kompany would have to pay us the worthless union lets them out of it.Maybe we need to caontct the NMB over this right now!!!!!!

"Creeping layoff" is an excellent term Bob. Here in SAN we had a AMT transfer to DFW as a C/C. We were told he would be replaced not long ago. Now that he is gone we were told he will not be replace. There are two AMTs retiring in Jan. 2005. They will not be replaced either. With each retirement the company saves even more money since they do not recall.

We are getting the old "this station has less people than you do and the same amount of work" routine. Divide and conquer from the company & union.

cio, why would the company offer stand in stead now?
