LCC Earnings Announcement 7/21/10

Dougie is on CNBC and US is the 6th largest airline but ranked 3rd in Baggage fees collected.

Sounds like a winner to me. If those fees helped helped to drive our Q2 results than I hope he's shooting for #1 in baggage fees collected.

Um...yay... Guess all those top level execs are counting their cash already. i however am wondering how to pay the bills as Im working under a bankruptcy contract.... why do I pay union dues.?..
On a recall note..hurry up and get these people off the recall list and seperate them from the company....NEW HIRES NEW HIRES NEW HIRES!!!!!!
While this good news from a job security perspective...lets remember what weve all been through. Short staffed, under-payed, and over worked. Ive watched 1 agent board a 320 numerous times the past few months...

so for lack of a better word, ya think the sand castle **cough cough** will be giving out our hard $$,, er I mean bonuses 1st part of 2011?

Short staffed is an understatement.

Thankyou!

Yeah! "Ditto"!! LOL
Now I'm no finance major or MBA but I looked at the numbers pretty closely and I could find no negatives that were heretofore unknown. Yes debt is still to high but that's true with most airlines. YES we all know the attitude and approach from Tempe towards customers AND employees and that generally speaking they don't really factor into the equation.

Beyond that I'm hard pressed to find something to squawk about. One interesting item is that the return to what is likely full year profitability comes at a time when Organized Labor has contract negotiations. The only valid question regarding this thread & President Obama is whether he will step in if one of the work groups decides to go on strike.

I have always maintained that the employees of US Airways if empowered with the culture/approach that WN has towards its employers would have the potential to become a juggernaut that would make larger airlines cringe at there arrival in a city. The acre of diamonds is there, just no one from US management is enlightened enough to properly mine the diamonds.

Think how much larger the Q2 profit would be is US had inspired employees like WN? The primary reason I blast US over the way it treats employees frankly is because treating them as they are treated now is simply bad business practice. Customers, Shareholders and employees are injured by the Labor Relations approach at US Airways. Like I said it's just bad business as it lowers profitability and that IS the name of the game in a Capitalist economy.

Fears of labor unrest are over blown ... to quote scott kirby from the article you linked to in your post more good news .

"This feels to us like a tepid recovery, and one that isn't getting rapidly better," Kirby told investors. But it is not getting worse. "While that's not what we would like to see for the country, a tepid recovery is also leading to moderate fuel prices. As a result, US Airways and the industry are producing near-record profits, despite a weak recovery under way."

oil is one of the biggest costs at our company , but without passngers , even 10 dollars a barrel oil won't be of help to us ... As long as unemployment continues to climb our passnger base will fall , and soon we will be back in the postion of having "too much capacity " within the airline ..

All of us must continue our efforts to do the very best we can day in and day out if we are to have any hope of long term survial .
