since the afa hasen't followed through with thier threats . (not surprsing). let's see if the amfa has more cojones. everybody is talking about the f/a's but what about the mechanics?

I'm willing to bet that AMFA will make good on their threats for a strike and/or job actions if Judge Wedoff abrogates their labor agreement. You can't discount the politics of this situation. AMFA is actively attempting to represent mechanics at other carriers. In order to be successful, they must demonstrate that they are standing up to management to defend their profession. And licensed mechanics stand a very good chance for employment outside of this industry, since their skills transfer easily. That gives them some measure of leverage in all of this. So I definately believe that AMFA will attempt some sort of job actions if their contract is tossed. We shall see.

Everyone knows that its "game over" and all is lost if a job action occurs. Expect to see some delays in the 1113c procedings as the two sides hammer out a deal that allows AMFA to claim some small victories, and the comapny to get the savings it needs while appearing to concede to the union.

AMAF will come out and something to the effect of, "We stood up to evil management and fought for your rights. This forced them to negotiate with us after months of stonewalling. While we didn't get everything we wanted here is a list of what we achieved. We believe this is in the best interest of our members."

when is the judge suppose to rule on the amfa contract?

Heres AMFA's response to a strike.

Article

"So, now the questions leads to ... is this the point where we strike the airline?" wrote AMFA Local 9 on its Web site in a message to its members. "The short official answer from AMFA National is NO."

Ah, good old IAM. I'm just thrilled that my wife is a member. Let's see, $30-40/month, every month, over the last 5 years or so (whenever it was her department joined the union) adds up to...

Well, glad to know they're on the ball. I'm especially impressed with the excellent way they communicate news and the relevant points of important issues to their members.

Keep whistling past the graveyard. This is what always happens....until it isn't.

"everybody is talking about the f/a's but what about the mechanics?" Slient but deadly...like a powerful nuclear Submarine. 😛h34r:

FWAAA,
They can beat on their bellys all they want. At the end of the day, votes counted, no strike. Every craft. I've been there with AAA. It's the age thing. Over 45 years old, it's a no vote for any job action.
