Libya

I always though punching out was quite dangerous?

Punching out can never be considered "safe". However certain ejections are "safer" than others. It's rather likely that those pilots climbed to a safe altitude, slowed their aircraft down and then pulled the handle. Just read the story of John McCain's ejection to get idea of an ejection under less than ideal cicumstances.

I guess I am making the comparison between a aircraft flying 'slow' in the air verses a plane parked on the ground. I have no idea how slow 'slow' is but I am guessing it's not like stepping off a slow moving escalator.

Obama has been taking heat even from his own MSM over his lame if nonexistent responce to Libya. Wonder why?
Don't want to upset the cash flow?

But Gadhafi has been tied to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's spiritual adviser for more than 23 years.

The Libyan dictator also has financed and strongly supported the Nation of Islam and its leader, Louis Farrakhan. Obama has ties to Farrakhan and his controversial group.

President Obama found it hard to directly condemn Gadhafi, but he spoke out big against Scott Walker. The man has his priorities!

What should he do? Condemn Libya? Do you think Gadafi cares? Do you think the US civilians who are stuck there trying to get out would appreciate such actions?

Now he's blaming drugs and Osama bin Laden for the troubles in his country. I suspect he mentioned OBL for the same reason he threayened to blow up the oil wells. To try and silence any criticism from the west.

When he going to blame Bush??

Now there's talk of a possible no-fly zone over Libya. Of course that can open another can of worms. Also, guess who would be bearing the brunt of it.

Since the whole Iraq thing worked out so well, lets try it again.....

Sometimes it takes a trigger event to wake people up. Perhaps in this case it was the uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt. Perhaps now the Libyans see that they can take their leaders out and replace them with one of popular support. Time will tell if the people have the fortitude, ability and foresight to follow through.

I wonder how nervous the leaders in Iran and Saudi Arabia are right now?

Despite his often non-sensical ramblings you do have to admit at the very least he's a survivor. You don't survive as a leader in that part of the world as long as he has without cunning and ruthlessness.

This could have gotten ugly.

I read about that earlier.....made me think of the fiasco in Iran with Carter.
