As a pilot for Ups. Fedex or even AA do you end up sleeping in hotels a lot of the time or do you make it back home with more passengers/packages to sleep in your own bed? Thank you in advance for the answers.
On a side note is the amount of jobs requiring a Rotary winged aircraft license small compared to the amount of jobs requiring fixed wing aircraft license?
 
I think you'll find a wide range of answers from pilots at all those airlines. It really depends if they fly regional routes or long haul (i.e Asia, Europe, etc.).

Obviously, I would say that the more money a pilot makes on the pay scale means he/she is flying the bigger metal, which would usually require time away from home.

The new pilots flying regional jets and short routes might have an easier time getting home each night. But, your mileage may vary....
