Gosh, that sure represents a lot of big D's. Our new congress is off to a great start.

And what does that have to do with USAirways?

And are you getting to the bad part?

Why should english be the official language? We are not English, we are American!

And I thought the safety announcement video would switch to Spanish with English subtitles  Hola Senor/Senorita!Bienvenido USAirways!

...

I wasn't going to respond to this until I noticed that your brought my state, and the great senators of my state, into the mix.

That same day as your reported 'nay' vote, both Senator Obama and Senator Durbin of Illinois voted 'YEA' to the following:

The Government of the United States shall preserve and enhance the role of English as the common and unifying language of America. Nothing herein shall diminish or expand any existing rights under the law of the United States relative to services or materials provided by the government of the United States in any language other than English.

I like that. Short and to the point.

OK.....let's make American the official language. sheesh.....

This country is too PC for it's own good.
You miss the point. Obviously, 'American' is not a language. But, tell me why it should be English as the official language?

It shouldn't, and America was built on diversity. Maybe we should ask the Native Americans what the official language should be? Open your mind....

Come on, get with the program. Everyone knows the Natives were just holding the land till we got here and took it off their hands. :p

But, tell me why it should be English as the official language?
Because it is the most common. It is the language of commerce. Speaking English in America is the best way to improve your career. Having one language simplifies everything. We won't have to do driving tests and voter pamphlets in multiple languages. Having to accomodate all languages is a bureaucratic nightmare.

America was built on diversity.

In the past immigrants assimilated into our culture. You know, "the melting pot".
