Northwest Airlines Announces New Service Between Indianapolis and Ft. Lauderdale and Tampa, Fla.

Additional Seasonal Flight Added to Orlando
INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Northwest Airlines (Nasdaq: NWAC - News), which begins a major expansion of its Indianapolis schedule this fall, will offer daily nonstop service between Indianapolis and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., effective Dec. 15.
Northwest also announced seasonal service between Indianapolis and Tampa, Fla., and a second daily flight to Orlando, Fla. Those flights will operate between Dec. 15, 2004, and April 30, 2005.
"These new flights will provide Northwest customers with additional options to some of Florida's most popular destinations in time for the winter," said Fay Beauchine, vice president of sales and customer relations. By Dec. 15, Northwest will offer an all-jet schedule from Indianapolis International Airport with up to 39 flights a day to 15 destinations. Northwest expands service at Indianapolis on Oct. 31 with 19 daily flights to 10 destinations, growing to 22 daily flights to 12 destinations with the additional Florida service announced today.
On Oct. 31, Northwest will more than double the number of departures it offers at Indianapolis by adding new nonstop service to Boston, Ft. Myers, Fla.; Hartford, Conn.; Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, Fla.; Philadelphia, Raleigh/Durham, N.C. and Washington.
Northwest currently offers 17 daily flights to its three domestic hubs of Detroit, Memphis, Tenn., and Minneapolis/St. Paul.
The Florida flights will be operated with a 100-seat DC-9, featuring 16 seats in first class and 84 seats in coach class. Northwest offers more first class seats from Indianapolis than any other airline. WorldPerks members who achieve "Elite" status enjoy unlimited complimentary upgrades to first class.
