What a shock to learn Mark Foley is gay....I always thought that he was bipartisan.

don't tell anyone but I was listening to Hannity today...
And this whole Foley thing was known since '03 and its begining to look like maybe the Repub's were blind sided with another dem slight of hand as it was leaked on the last day before adjournment and the emails were not to be made public as per the parents of the young pages requested....anyone say SOROS?

So the fact that Hasserts office knew about it and sat on it does not matter?
I don't believe they sat on anything. He said he spoke to Foley about it and Foley assured him it was purely a friendly email and nothing more so Hastert felt it was handled. He told him to stop the emails. What else was he supposed to do? No one knew the depravity of Foley except Foley and he wasn't talking unless you were a male page under 18.
That's not it at all. They wanted to keep it quiet and thought they had until "someone" decided to thrust it into the center of an election. They're as much a victim in this thing as the kid was.

First off, Foley is a never married 50+ year old guy sending suggestive e-mails to an underage teen. Hastert must have known in his gut that this was soooo inappropriate to even convey Foley to STOP. Hell, this guy spearheaded a committee on missing and abused children and helped sign and pass stricter sex predator laws.
Hastert could have, and should have, brought in a few congressional leaders and investigated this issue further than just a scolding. Hastert chose the easy road and moved on.
I don't believe for one second that folks around this nut case didn't have a clue he was a pervert.
His lawyers a throwing everything in the kitchen sink; everything that can think up to lessen the disqusting, embarassing actions of Foley....booze, mental illness, sexually molestated as a teen, and now he's out of the closet??? Being gay would someone crate some kind of sympathy? Why now does he speak to being gay? It wasn't necessary or appropriate to throw that in...makes him look even more ridiculous.

No, the emails were not suggestive. It was the instant messages that were "suggestive" or in my opinion gross and disgusting.
Just because he's an unmarried 50+ year old man that never married does not mean anything. Lots of people choose that road for their own reasons and just because they chose that road doesn't mean they're a child predator.
Maybe Hastert was following precedent from previous Speakers of the House in handling these type of situations. That precedent was to sweep it under the rug and keep it quiet. If he'd had the data that was put out Friday then I'm sure he'd have acted but someone sat on that info for 3 years.

There's nothing negative about never being married in itself, BUT...one would have to ponder the profile, then further contemplate why an individual would be sending such suggestive correspondences to minors, never being married, etc... wouldn't one? Just to ensure safety? Wouldn't you expect that of Congress if you had a child who received a job as a Page? Kids are naive. The pages look at congressional leaders as movie stars. Would be easy prey for a sicko.
Its on record that the parents of those under aged pages did not want the emails released....so how did they get released?? Soros is involved...
Time will tell...sure seems like those same old underhanded moves by your good 'ol democrats....anything to get back in control....
