Mechanic Proposal

UVN,

You are correct. The IAM is doing a rush job to shove this down the throats of their members. Its almost as if they expect a bonus or something!!!

Am I reading this right? The mechanic that assembles the engine makes less that
$23.00 per hour? 🙁

QEC mechanic will make 23.77 hour. Base Rate 22.77 + 1.00 for the P Ticket.

Something people are not seeing, overtime is not paid for the license or the lead upgrade.

So your time and 1/2 is on your base rate only. That sucks.

Haven't seen any overtime in my department for the past two years. I would not work it anyway with the amount of people who are furloughed anyway. One thing I did find a bit funny in the so called "hi light" sheet that was given out was one of the few things in black & white stating how the company would reimburse the unions legal costs for negotiating this final offer? It did specify they would not pay their fees for the recent litigation we recently won and then lost in BK. Left a rather sour taste in many mouths!!!!! Can anyone say sell out?

The company has orchestrated this abomination in a magnificent way.

The IAM is painted into a corner. The company knows this and is counting on this extortionary proposal to pass by design <_< .

Vote yes and you lose your job with the prospect of severence and unemployment.

Vote no and you lose your job with no guarantee of severence.

Go on strike and piss away your unemployment benefits.

Anyway you look at it the end result is the same......WE LOSE!!!

But every gray cloud has a silver lining or shall I say in this case, a silver bullet. Glass and his henchmen are the werewolves.......The employees who have had enough abuse vote YES to STRIKE......The silver bullet!!! Thus, the werewolves die and the employees are dead already. So tell me now WHO LOSES  !!!!

It will be NO and YES in that order for this "recalcitrant" union member.

$23.77 an hour is over $45,000 a year. Not the worst change someone can make when you include benefits. Sure it is less than someone made a few years ago, but it is hard to walk into a new job at that kind of money. Sure they are worth every penny when someone's lives are in there hands, but there a lot of jobs like that. My girlfriend is a nurse and makes somewhat less than that by about a buck or two an hour (she works NeoNatal Intensive Care, how much is that job worth to you if you have a baby in there?) What about a restaurant manager that makes sure that food is kept prepared in a sanitary environment so you don't get salmonella or E-Coli?

N628AU,

If your wages were reduced closer to the commuter ranks what would be your comment??

I have seen Western Auto paying $25. per hour to ASE certified mechanics. They screw up and the car pulls off the road. An aircraft mechanic screws up and people could die.

So let's continue to lower the wages in aviation until all the quality type individuals become replaced by some young pups fresh out of school willing to work for peanuts. You cannot buy experience and quality is a trait that is learned. But then again, think of all the money the company will save <_< .

Gimmie a break would ya  ??
