If the management wants this to go through without the pilots at NWA onboard, then it will happen, regardless what Oberstar wants. There's a lot of money that will be made on this transaction and i'm sure some of if will land in Oberstar's coffers. The NWA pilots will just have to figure it out later. There are plenty of people to fill the position without them. I think "Play the Odds" is looking for a position now![]()
That's where you are wrong borescope. If management thought that, they wouldn't have wasted their time asking in the first place. Like they really care what Delta or NW pilots think...IF they weren't forced to. You simply believe that because you think Delta will somehow come out on top. If I were you, I'd think back not too long ago when a small carrier name US/HP was breathing down your neck. What many of you fail to realize...is NW is already running the show at Delta. The name of the airline has changed but the person remains the same...RAnderson came from NW (16 years) hand picked over all other Delta Lt. They didn't pick Gordan B, Crandell, Edwards, Wolf...or any other airline exec. They went after a NW man.
We will see the drama unfold this week if a merger "attempt" is announced. Both the NWA pilots, Oberstar (if you think Oberstar is just another sleazy politician you are in for a big surprise. I suggest you read his impeccable Bio. He is a salt of the earth, highly educated, brilliant leader who's been around for a VERY LONG time), and the other NW Unions have been very quite this week. We haven't lasted as the oldest of the original Flag carriers by being stupid. At issue here is a silly Advertising man as Chairman of an Airline (bostock). His bio is one of merging Ad companies. Evidently, no one has told him airlines/ unions are quite different then the dainty world of Advertising.

Merger "announcement" is imminent....Merger is WAAAY off down the road (they can not combine or do anything that smacks of collusion until approval from the DOJ [which will digest the advice of the Congressional committee on Aviation/Transportation-of which is Chaired by Congressman James OBERSTAR]/DOT, if ever.
Oberstar can't do anything to stop this and provided they write a large enough check to his campaign, all of his issues with this will go away. <_<
He did so much for Northwest's employees when management took them to the cleaners during bankruptcy. He stood up for the AMFA when they went on strike and brought pressure against NWA for the substandard maintenance that the scabs were performing. He helped... Oh, wait he didn't do any of those things.

I understand you're not a fan of the merger and I can't say I really am either but I'm curious how your co-workers feel. We were on the bus with a NWA crew the other day and the flight attendants were all talking. The only way I can describe the NWA crew was excited with the merger prospect (they were also coveting the DL FA uniform). Maybe they were just being nice for our benefit. The NW Capt threw in a nice "I can't wait to be SLC based since I commute from PHX" on the way off the bus. All I could think of was "that bum's gonna bump me down the list". 🙂
My feeling is that management is going to go out of their way to make former NWA employees know they are part of the family. Like you've said so many times, the name may be Delta, but it's NWA-Delta and it looks like we may have been taken over by old NW guys. If this thing is approved I hope we can all work together and make this the best airline company out there. Best

Come on board with that attitude and you will find yourself jobless. Is this the mindset your union has instilled??What a clap trap! Delta is a business that has screwed their employees just like all the ‘other’ businesses do and will continue to do!
Save your ‘heart felt’ family bullshit for others that will buy into it.
Every time I hear of this ‘we are a family’ lie, I hear dueling banjos and pigs squealing.
It is just a f#(king ‘job’!
No more, no less!

So its not just a job?Come on board with that attitude and you will find yourself jobless. Is this the mindset your union has instilled??

Finally a retort that makes sense!! We will make this the best airline ever!! There are some crappy attitudes we have to deal with first though, and deal with them we shall NxNW.
