A COMBAT SOLDIER'S PRAYER

This combat soldier's prayer,
Who has served his time in Hell,
Is may we learn the lessons of war well,
That we not doom future generations,
The same old tales of horror to tell,
To endure what in youth they see mistakenly as glory.
Oh God, do not let our children
Repeat the same old story.

Make it so that America's babies live to grow old
In this land of the free and the bold.
Help us throw off the shackles of hate that bind
And grow old in a life of a peaceful kind.

Teach us that there is no glory in war,
Nor honor there that brave men should not abhor.
Teach us instead, one for another our brothers to love.
Shower us with thine Celestial message from above,
That we plant seeds of peace evermore
And make war-no-more!

But if I should die on some far, far away battlefield
Know I answered the call
For a grand principle of freedom to yield.
My fervent prayer is that death
May not have been in vain
Fighting for peace and right for the world to attain.

My brothers, American roses standing by my side
On alien soil dying
In the summer of my youthful pride
All the leaves around me falling,

Now I’m lying here still, in sunshine and in shadow,
Longing to hear, “brother next door, I love you so."
For moldering in the soft ground below,
I feel you living and loving in the world above me
Standing tall because I fought that you might be...
Oh look ye down now,
And tell me you still think of me
Honor my red blood, spilt that others might stand free.

Tell me that I did not give my all for you in vain
That brothers and sisters do not look upon my sacrifice
With hateful,
Or even worse,
Uncaring disdain.

Do not forget me when my valley’s hushed
And white with snow,
Grass growing green in the summer of my meadow
Help me see the peace I lived and died for grow.

Make my lonely grave richer,
Sweeter be...
Make this truly,
"The land of the free
And the home of the brave,"
I gave my life to save
That I might too, lie eternally,
Forever free...

Thanks, UT

You are quite welcome my friend.
This was/is/always my Prayer

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Say a Prayer for our Children...

Take Care and many Blessings to you and yours...

Thankyou UT, that prayer is so appropriate and my hope and wish for this season is for our Troops to return home safe and victorious to their families and loved ones.

There is a very powerful and moving song that stops me in my tracks every time I hear it, It puts a lump in my throat and brings a tear to my eye. To all those who have served, to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and to all the families that have been affected by it all.

I wish you all, each and every one, a very special and Blessed Christmas and May God Grant you comfort and peace always.

MERRY CHRISTMAS....and BRING them HOME for the NEW YEAR!!!!!!!

Bringing them home will not solve the problem and will only exacerbate the situation.
Our children will be faced with the same (if not worse) situation as they are in today.
Thank God most of them know that
We opened this Pandora’s' box and will be held accountable regardless if we finish the job today or run.
If your 'support' of the troops is to run and hide, not facing the reality of our situation, then I do not agree with your conclusion.

We can continue to be indecisive and make it harder on 'THEM' or we can be single minded in our resolve to complete what we started and bring them home in 'Honor'

And THAT is YOUR opinion. When you or George Bush are over there, because of a LIE, and staring death in the face everyday, then you can make that statement with conviction.

Bringing them home will solve the problem of placing them in imminent danger as a result of ancient conflicts that are misunderstood by 95 percent of Americans. Our children hopefully will not be foolish enough to allow our nation to start a war based on lies, profit, and an idiotic understanding of 4,000 year old conflicts with a sham story of "Spreading Democracy". (the story line has changed at least 4 times since the start of the war).

I don't know where you get your info...but MOST of our troops are disgusted with being there because of a lie. The morale problem is deplorable, that's why they have desertion, enlistment issues at an all time high. Those men and women are not stupid, they know how they have been CONNED.

I love to hear people use that term "run" when they are sitting on this side of the fence. And if your support of the troops is to continue to allow them to be sent to their death based on LIES, and some stupid fake macho idea by people who have never walked in uniform (as NONE of those that declared this war, including George Bush, whom was unable to complete his duty) then I do not agree with your position.

Iraq is not an American colony, their welfare is up to them. The safety of America does not depend on Iraq. The safety of America depends on who enters it's borders, which it apparently is UNABLE to secure. Yet our "leaders" think we can secure some other nation's on the other side of the planet, with people we know nothing about. That's a brilliant strategy.

My money, my people belong here...in America tending to our safety first and foremost. Stop the flow of 25-30 million UNKOWN foreigners pouring into this country, then you can tell the world how we need to "finish the job" elsewhere. We have thousands of Americans being slaughtered in America every year by illegal alien gangs and you are worried about Iraq's welfare? I think you fail to realize that that "situation" is already HERE, and has been here for quite some time.

I believe those that started this PHONY war should be tried for treason and murder.

Merry Christmas to our troops and BRING THEM HOME!

Been there, done that, got the Cammies… :p

I think you are naive. This ‘conflict’ has been coming for a long time. We put our ‘ASSets’ into it and are now committed, regardless if you like it or not.

I’ll show you mine if you show me yours… I get my info from military websites, where do you get yours?

Regardless of if we agree and/or disagree with ‘why’ we are there, the point is that we are. Maybe if some of you chicken hawks would have made a stand prior to our commitment, then you might get some respect from me. But all of you freaking Hillbillies decided to not stand up and say ‘NO’ when it was stupid not to say otherwise. Yea, you all have my support…….. (NOT)

Please, if you are going to throw every freaking thing into one ‘lump’ please make it coherent.

I agree, give me your name to put on the list!
 UT

I guess you just can't say WHY we are there.

What "conflict" are you referring to?

What kind of "stand" are you referring to? (vague answers throughout)
I say NO now, I said NO then, and I'll say NO tomorrow! Iraq is, WAS not worth one drop of American blood. While you are worried about our "assests" in Iraq, nut job in N Korea was building a Nuc. That's showing the world America's got everything under control.

As for your list...start with your fearless leader...as you follow him off the cliff.

(and from one defender to another...Thanks for your service to the nation!)

We are in Iraq because the Merican pepple wanted us there. Plain and simple. So, now ask the ‘hard’ questions.

“THAT†I respect and agree with. If only our ‘elected’ officials and ‘Mericans’ would have done the same. Most every nut-job running for office voted for the war then changed their mind (with public support). That’s why I didn’t vote for nor support Kerry and I will not vote for Billery nor any other condescending hypocrite. If there were a national outcry against the Iraq invasion then it would not have happened. I’m not a lemming and apparently you are not either.

As for your list...start with your fearless leader...as you follow him off the cliff.

If God and/or Jesus would tell me to jump off a cliff, I would (even my Wife doesn’t have that kind of power)
