Mesa Exploring Chapter 11

Good riddance, Mesa. While I hate to see a loss of more jobs in the industry, Delta made the right move in kicking Mesa to the curb. They are the bottom of the barrel of the industry -- Jonathan Ornstein has seen to that. Unprofessional to the extreme, the worst paid in the industry -- they hire employees that other carriers denied giving a second interview. Orstein's greed and shadiness (a la Hawaii) is well known and he is the most hated person in the industry (just behind Lorenzo). It is nice to see him getting his just desserts.

It will take a little shuffling to replace the crj-900 flying out of CLT, but that shouldn't be too hard. PHX, on the other hand, would have major difficulties in replacing them over the short term. The interesting question to me is where do the US owned -900s end up?

Piney,
US has the right to terminate their contract with Mesa if they file C11. I believe UA has the same option in their contract as well. C11 could actually be the end of Mesa IF US and UA decide to use it as a chance to cut them loose.

Um since when does US own -900s?

ExpressJet has plenty of lift with CO letting them go.

Sorry, they were placed there by US, they are probably leased.

shouldnt this go to the regional section since they fly for a number of other airlines?

No this needs to stay here so we can all hate on them !!

I had just written a long rant and tried to post it ,but alas my internet cut out , I guess it was for the best thou as my post was nothing but a vile attack on that worthless corporation that calls itself an airline , let alone a business ..

BURN mesa BURN!!!

I believe Parker has stated he can't wait until the contract with mesa, giving the exclusivity to PHX is over...............

Mesa sucks.

Replace it overnight???? Not sure, Republic just lost the frontier gig. I'm sure there's a number of sitting 50 seaters that can come in temporarily. Utlimately, Mgmt could finally agree to pay PSA decent rates for the 900 and they could pick those up, easy differences course, but would take some time to ramp up. Additionally, they could cut some frequencies and send PSA or AWA 50 seaters out there fairly quick. Or send some 190's..........hmmmm

Dude, no! They are starting to make their way over to OUR side of the ramp.

What happens to US Airways if Mesa ceases operations?

Complaints for US will go down, performance for US will go up.

I mean no disrespect to the employees of YV, but the way that company is run is appaling. Their planes break all the time. Lots of crew issues. And while it's not really YVs ops fault, their flights are always weight restricted as well.

Management would just put the crj900 pilot pay up for the lowest bid between PSA and Piedmont. You know like last time. AKA shinny jet syndrome
