Can anyone confirm that Terminal B will be closing soon? An agent told me that the terminal should be closed and demolished soon to make way for construction of the new terminal.

I have heard from several sources (MODs, agents, etc...) that both terminals B & C will be demolished to make way for the new "super terminal"....knowing Dade County, this will take about 25 years.

Yes both B and C will be demolished. I thought C was scheduled next. The schedule is posted in ops on the wall across from the FIDS screens.

I knew they both would be taken down eventually but the agent said he thought that Oct 01 Terminal B would be closed. Usually we get some advanced notice on things like this so was a little sceptical of his info. Does anyone know the official timeline on these events?

Terminal B is supposed to be demolished in less than 30 days. Terminal C by early 2005.

B was scheduled for Oct 1 but best guess is that it has been pushed back. There is no way that AA can clear out of there in that short of time as the terminal was still up and fully running as of last night, and this morning.

MDAA can't be trusted to wipe their own fannys, I wouldn't bet on any date they set. Suffice it to say that one day you'll show up and they'll have thrown up a wall without notice.

Does this mean that my favorite, interminable gray connecting corridor with zero decoration of any kind might go away? 🙁

C concourse is one of the original concourses at MIA which Eastern used for about 30 years. B concourse is newer, built by Eastern in the early 1980's, it then served a variety of airlines from Air France & Virgin Atlantic to many South American airlines. AA Super Terminal will be from Concourses A-D, will have a straight line on the north side of the MIA terminal. AA has brought needed moderization to MIA which couldn't be financed under Pan Am & Eastern, the best thing since the Nina, Pinta & Santa Maria landed in Hispanola.

Funny, Wing,

My take has always been that Miami-Dade could screw (and that's the FAMILY version) up a tray of ice cubes.

Yeah, there always is a new wall there when I go home.

This could be more costly and darkly hilarious than Boston's "Big Dig".

If they actually complete it, MIA will be amazing, depending on if that train is outside security or not.

My only regret is not prying the Eastern metal plate from the C-9 (Brady Bunch jetbridge) wall. I could have sold that on eBay!

I will miss that psychedelic jetbridge. Harvest Gold and Avocado Green, anyone?
