Midwest Connect Adds Milwaukee-Pittsburgh Frequency
Thursday July 22, 12:53 pm ET

MILWAUKEE, July 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Midwest Connect today announced it will expand its Milwaukee-Pittsburgh service with the addition of a roundtrip flight six days each week beginning September 8. With the added frequency, the airline will provide three roundtrip flights each weekday.

The new service offers a midday flight eastbound and a mid-afternoon flight westbound. Flights will be aboard Midwest Connect's quick and comfortable Fairchild 328JET regional jets, featuring 32 reclining leather seats, and the widest and tallest passenger cabin in their class.

"The increased frequency on this route accommodates growing customer demand, while providing travelers additional flight options and new connecting opportunities," said Randall K. Smith, vice president of sales and distribution for Midwest Airlines. "The added flight is a first step while we assess the long-term potential of the route, which may warrant additional schedule enhancements."

Doesn't sound like any sort of rescue to me, and it doesn't help US Airways at all. Perhaps the ACAA, but not US by any means.

He's my thought. 3 daily departures of a 32-seat aircraft with, lets say a 65% LF = 62 passengers each day. Not a big O&D market to operate a A319 ,or even a 50-seat RJ, between with any decent freqency. PIT would never see Southwest, AirTran, or jetBlue operate between PIT and MKE.
