I have my own conspiracy theory. I believe it was the mother ship coming to do a pick up/drop off in Tempe, AZ. That's what I believe and I'm sticking with it.

Not to stir things up, but FWIW when I was a kid growing up in Southern California, we would occasionally see test launches of the "Peacekeeper" (MX missile) from Vandenberg Air Force Base shooting at targets in the remote Pacific. The trails that the missiles left looked EXACTLY like the pictures of this incident. Just Sayin'..... 😛h34r:

Sitting at Hennessey's in Hermosa for Tuesday happy hour about 15 years ago say a great Vandenberg missile launch at dusk.

Pretty impressive and very similar. Malibu fires from same vantage point not so good.
