GOOD !!!

And on an (somewhat) Unrelated matter,................BA is pursuing QANTAS in a Merger !!
That's "another GOOD" for AA, down the road.
(Now if we could just figure out a way to get JAL into the mix........BINGO !!, then who would give a SHET...What the other airlines of the world do) !!!

Doesn't BA still own a 25% stake in Qantas? A merger there would not be all that surprising. I think SQ also owns a stake in QF though, so that would be something they'd have to work out.

I don't see any problem with BA acquiring IB, QF and other, smaller European carriers to become a "mega carrier". In reality they will have to do this just to survive, since LH is on a buying spree (LX, BD and perhaps OS next?)

As for impact on AA, there will be very little in the short term. As we all know, rules governing foreign ownership of US carriers are extremely strict.

Local management is already talking about additional cuts in flights and manpower here.

Supposedly the "It's working in STL" idea has caught the eye of management and now they're fantasizing that a three man gate crew will UCLA on the gates.Good luck with that.

What are they going to cut next? The few flights we have at LGA that don't go to MIA, DFW or ORD?

Union Leaders in Tulsa said yesterday that 2010 brings 3000 surplus TWU.

We heard DFW will take a big hit again in early 2009....A lot more flights cut and lot's of layoffs. Also heard about another VRB coming soon as well??
