What's new

"Mom Emeritus"

That was a very nice story about a remarkable woman and a remarkable journey.

"She'd like to keep a focus on that in her new life as just another employee – as long as Mr. Kelly agrees."

"I want to be part of it," she said. "But it's only fair to Gary – I really feel strong about this – that it's time for me to follow."

The humility in that statement is astounding. That she is highest ranking woman in any airline ever (I think) and can make that sort of statement is just another indication of why WN is so very successful. That attitude filters down from the top to all levels.

And, let me add...Give Herb Kelleher credit for recognizing a good thing (her talents and abilities) and using it to the fullest. Think about how forward thinking he was to put her in a high place of responsibility YEARS before it became the politically correct thing to put women in jobs high up and out front.

Nice article...

Herb and Colleen have always been a great team
and I'm glad they're still going to be a part of the
Company for a while.
