Monkey business in Philly?

I never thought you guys were taking it lightly. I see "the end of the world as we know it" in the posts.

I don't think it's the end of the world and hope it's an isolated incident. Our guys are pretty riled up about this. Self-policing would be the best option in my opinion by telling whoever this is to knock it off. If it is a prank, it's not being taken that way.

Crews are not getting the joke and taking this seriously.

Hopefully you called a maintence supervisor and a chief pilot after finding all that and before you allowed boarding of the flight. What did they say? Did you just fly the flight and say nothing even after you landed?

We are having problems with both window locks on east airplanes to. The flight goes nowhere until the captain has had a discussion with somebody.

I'm sharing a report I read this morning. It became a hot subject. Like I was telling Pi, I think this is a lone wolf now that more people have shared stories. I'm sure since it was reported, those doing the investigating will know soon enough.

Ok, don't take it personally.....
I just thought that anyone else with those items would stand out a bit.....

Come to think of it, there are blue paper type towels that are used to clean up spills, and one could have even blown into the engine overnight.

If you're addressing me, I'm not and everything else is water under the bridge with us as far as I am concerned.

Could be some idiot screeners from the TSA. Recall a few years ago when some screeners broke into some Eagle RJs at ORD overnight by climbing on the pitot tubes? They claimed that it was a necessary test of security. Like if the police were to throw bricks thru storefront windows to make sure the burglar alarms are set.

Reported on another forum:

Took an airplane into PHL where it RON'd. Came out next morning for predawn departure to find same airplane at same gate. Logbook said RON check complete.

FO found a blue 10" x 6" rag laying flat in the bottom of engine 1 cowl ahead of the fan.

FO's window was not locked. Closed, but not locked.

Both glass cleaner packets had been removed.

FO's shoulder harness had a thin layer of grease on the edge closest to him....leaving a nice black line on his collar.

7 years of dealing with these children out east is robbing me of my good humor.

I'm sure all this was a coincidental. It's part of my preflight flow to check for grease on the shoulder harness.

Sounds like an oernight I had in PHX, got out to the airplane did the preflight only to find my identity had been stolen by someone in their chief pilots office! I always check!

Sky is falling Mut. Better get LifeLock just to be sure. Uncle Mikey would want you protected.

PS Steve Johnson said there was NO ID THEFT, you did get the memo right? That makes for one more bad snipe hunt for USAPA.

No, I was refering the member who quoted my post, but thanks anyway.....

Why were you on the ramp doing the walk-around without your ID "clearly visible on your outter garment?" Sounds like a security violation.

Why would someone from the chief pilot's office, who is a few keystrokes away from having more informatiion about you than is on your ID, steal your ID?

Sounds like one of those "I caught a fish this much bigger than anyone else" tales to me...

I think maybe it is just mtc not being given enough time to accomplish the job. Earlier this year in PHX I got some 757's with windows closed but not locked, engine hydro pumps selected off, pressurization in manual, etc. Mtc used to have a checklist which years ago would have been called the origination checklist for the pilots. It was rare to find anything out or place, perhaps a return to the old days in this case would be a good thing.

I'm reluctant to comment, however I will say this. For YEARS and I mean well before I started flying regularly in 2000 that PHL and US ramp and mtc were "mobbed up". No one knew who Wolf, or Parker were then.

This rumor is persistent as in 20 plus years now. Is it true? I won't even hazzard a guess. I will say that I hear it all the time from frequent flyers and people who never fly and everyone in between. In this case you will NEVER knw what the deal is r why.

I think that is a bit of a stretch Hawk, there is no reason for anyone in the departments you mentioned to do anything of the sort.
