Could someone please provide expected pay for the first 3 years of a new hire flight attendant? Have a friend who is looking into working for SWA. Also expected domiciles assigned to new hires would be helpful. If you don't want to post here, you can email me at dh61957@cox.net. Thanks.

The question is a little bit tricky to answer because our payrates are not static. In addition to annual step increases, there are COLA type raises every June throughout the life of the contract. What this means is that the exact payscale will depend on when your friend gets hired. A new-hire added to the payroll this month will start out making less than someone who gets hired a year from now.
With that said, here is the current payscale for years 1-3...these figures are good through May of 2006.

1st 6 months: $17.78
2nd 6 months: $18.03
2nd Year: $21.73
3rd Year: $22.91

Average New Hire will fly 90 -120 credit hours per month.

Per Diem is $2.15/hr

Training Pay is $1000 paid no later than 5 days after graduation.

New Hires are typically going to BWI, OAK, and MDW. Lately, a handful have gotten into PHX but, that is rare. MCO can take up to year after graduation, HOU and DAL even longer.

No more interviews are schedule for 2005, however we are always accepting resumes on Southwest.com

good post, swafa30

i would add that to compare our pay rates to other airlines, you should multiply the above 'trip rate' by 1.15 to get your approximately hourly rate.
