Yikes.

Must be part of that "legendary service" we keep hearing about...
since DL can't rid itself of its disgruntled employees in its own country, it would not seem too far-fetched to think that its contractors in other countries might try a thing or two to damage their own employer.

The FBI will figure it out... they are hot on the case.

That's a rather quick conclusion to jump to. There's certainly plenty of options to investigate (ie. sleeper cell "test runs," epic QC failures, etc.).

BTW, DL can "rid itself" of just about any employee it wants, anytime it wants, except those covered by a cba. In fact, they tout that on the front page of the HR manual...

What are you trying to assert? According to various news reports the sandwiches were sealed in plastic wrap prepared by Gate Gourmet.

given that the tampered sandwiches were on 4 flights from the same city, Gate Gourmet will be the first suspect; caterers remain responsible for their products and it would be hard-pressed to imagine any other party that had access to the food that would be served on 4 separate flights.

Any company can get rid of a disgruntled employee if they inflict damage on their business or their customers. Presumably DL's current disgruntled employees are not doing so - and the question will be if Gate Gourmet's employees who were involved were disgruntled or part of a larger scheme.

The law - as well as any CBA- provide little protection for those who inflict damage on others.
Those who are disgruntled but harmless are just a burden the world has to bear.

Of course they're the obvious first choice. Is anyone out there implying otherwise? That said, I'm sure any investigation will cover all possible options...

DL doesn't even need to meet that threshold.

No one's claiming otherwise. my point is only that the pilots & dispatchers are not at will employees, and therefore must be dismissed for cause.

Those who are disgruntled but harmless are just a burden the world has to bear.

Whatever. 🙄

There are state employment laws that any company must follow, even in "at will employment" states. As much as you would like to think otherwise, DL (like other multi-site companies) doesn't have various sets of employment procedures depending on the state where its employees are based given that some states where DL operates are at will and some are not.

But the topic is about tampered food in a foreign country.... although perhaps by the time the afternoon snack was served the flights had made it over US airspace.

Apparently the long arm of the FBI has global reach.

Droll wit... Gallows humor...

Whatever you're into...

So what you are trying to say is that there is nothing that would please you more then the demise and destruction of the airline you work for...because you don't have a CBA.

That's right, and they pertain to protected classes only.

You're going to need to show me where I ever stated that. In the interim, I'll thank you for not putting words into my mouth.

Again, DL employees- except for the pilots and dispatchers- can be terminated at anytime for any reason (except, of course discrimination based on prtected class status noted above).

I'm sure even as a retiree you can access the HRPM, can you not? If so, take a look for yourself.

Wasn't me who brought employees into the conversation; don't get mad if readers follow the tangent you create.

Wow. That's wicked assumptive-and incorrect- of you.

Second verse, same as the first:

You're going to need to show me where I ever stated that. In the interim, I'll thank you for not putting words into my mouth.

I see, just another disgruntled bomb thrower.
