New A/C Reg. numbers

The US designators that some NW jets have were actually supposed to be the first Airbuses in US' fleet. The deliveries were deferred due to contract negotiations and payscale differences in the early 90s. BMI and NW were given the first 50 or so A320s that were supposed to come to you guys. I was told by an unreliable source in regards to the tail numbers for several airlines, the letters represent the bank that backs the lease on the aircraft. NW has a lot of 319's that end in NB. Nation's Bank was rumored to be the backer of the aircraft. I also had heard the the UW a/c were backed by Wachovia.

Wrong,

NW owned the rights to US as their designator, US and the military and NW did a three way exchange.

Some of US' first A320 were originally for Phillipine Airlines.

US orders and recieved its own A319s and it had nothing to do with NW.

US never ordered Airbus till 1997 and recieved the first ones in 1998.

UW was a designator used as US with the specific tail #s were all ready used.

And NW has US on a bunch of 747s also.

For Example US also uses AU the elemental symbol for gold, and VJ for VistaJet which was the name for the DC-9, even one 757 has the VJ designator, 625VJ.

So what you're saying, US didn't have any trouble getting replacement narrowbodies from Boeing, they didn't have trouble negotiating payscales for the small Airbuses and BMI did not get ANY of your deferred aircraft? I already know that NW has 747s with the US in their tail numbers. That was over a decade before. US ordered the A320 and A319 in 1996 with 400 total, 120 firm. According to this list of active aircraft, US didn't start getting any until 1999......

Do you have any of the dates for any that aren't with US right now?

US did not defer airbus aircraft until the first bankrupcty, US filed in 2002 the first time, not the early 1990s.

And Wolf cancelled the 737 order from Boeing when he bought the Airbus, paying Boeing millions in fines.

They were never built as they were not to be delivered until the mid 2000s.

No airline got our planes as the deferred aircraft were never built.

The airbus payscales fell under the same groups as similar boeing a/c as pay scales are not by plane but by group.

And no there were no problems in negotiating rates, the order was contingent on the pilots accepting pay parity plus 1% under Wolf, which they did.

A/C 700UW was the first airbus US recieved.

The AW registrations are not US East planes they are west.

A/C 700UW was delivered 1998, I as a trainer on the plane.

It was built in 1998 and certificated on 12/16/98 and its airworthy date was 11/23/1998 and it was delivered to US on 10/15/1998.

US Airways A319 history

A/C 101UW was the first A320 US recieved and it was delivered to US on 1/29/1999.

NW's use of "US" in registation numbers comes up every once in while. I'm too lazy to look up those threads, but suffice it to say that NW's "US" numbers predate the "US Airways" name by a couple of decades. They stopped using it for new registrations some time back.
