What's new

New City?

Any strategy for JB in Miami should include San Juan & anto Domingo. I think its time for JB to go to TEXAS. DFW & Houston would both be great, JB has shown its not afraid of the Silver Wolf(AA). JFK-DFW wouldn't get AA's nose out of joint helping so many save money.

I think a couple more night flights--Portland, maybe even Vegas. And perhaps its time for another short haul--perhaps a Manchester or Portland, or a bit West like Detroit. And maybe time to sart Toronto, which I think is a very high fare market.

I'll throw out a diversion. I think MIA plays into the future 'mid' term priority. I'd bet if not before the end of '04 possibly early '05. I'm betting on a Yucatan destination from JFK initially.

And MIA is a virtual Lowfare free zone. That's why AA loves it so much. AA only has LCC compietition on two routes: MIA-ATL and MIA-LAS (and indirectly on MIA-CHI, since they fly to ORD and ATA to MDW).

What about HP to LAS and PHX?

Like I said, AA competes with an LCC (HP) on MIA-LAS. AA doesn't fly MIA-PHX non-stop.

Jetblue needs to expand it IAD & BOS operations to a full west coast & Florida schedule. Then expand more JFK to the caribean, Barbados & St. Maarten would be nice. Since JB likes red eyes they could have the first totally dark flihgt to BGI, imagine leaving Jfk at 2:00AM arrive at BGI for breakfast.

Miami would be expensive to fly from, according to the Miami Herald, it costs $4.XX per passenger at FLL but $14.xx at MIA. I would prefer more servcie from PBI, say to Boston. Hartford, Connecticut would also love the the JB treatment.

Sorry, B6 flying redeyes to BGI would not work. I work for AA in BGI and most passengers prefers AA's flight sheldlue to and from Jfk to BGI which alows them to leave JFK mid morning and arrive in BGI in the afternoon and leave BGI in the afternoon and arriving in JFK in the night. JM and BW have flights leaving Jfk in the early morning around 7am and I have heard very few people having peference for that type of itinerary so I can't imagine seeing them going for a 2am flight.

When the new terminals are done AA wil have about 68-72 gates in Mia. This was planned well before 2001, so there is room to play with. I don't think it would be too hard to negotiate some gate space, especially with UA pulling out. It would be an interesting idea to codeshare with an lcc to South America.

AA will have 47 gates at MIA, which will allow them to operate 330 daily mainline flights. American Eagle will have a combination of 30 gates and parking stands. They expect to operate around 120 daily flights.

Gatespace at MIA is not a major issue. jetBlue will have no trouble finding it, even though AA is running tight on gate space because Concourse B is being demolished this month and Concourse C will be demolished early next year, leaving a short run cruch on space, but nothing that will prevent jetBlue from finding room. In mid-2006, five airlines - US, UA, LH, RG, and AC - will move to the new Concourse J, whihc will free up a lot of space.

My friend just went through recurrent and DN was there and according to him, ORD is out (obvious reasons) but he did mention AUS, RIC and connecting a city in Mexico to OAK.

I thought it was more than 47, however it seems things change month to month, I'm no longer stationed there, so I hear second-hand. When I left I think it was 52, but then d opened. I think c is closing and b next. The last time I flew in I noticed eagle is still in temporary building. At any rate, the air freight market alone is worth being there. The population has doubled in ten years in broward alone.

It seems to have been awefully quiet of late. Of course with the heaviest traveled holiday in our midst, probably just concentrating on providing the best service they can to their customers.

But it seems with aircraft still arriving, "they must go somewhere" might apply, of course addtional flights to say PHX or connecting PHX to other JB cities seems logical. And What of those 2 slots at LGB that AMR is turning back in??

Could there be a "new" city announcement coming soon?

happy holidays to all and thank you for your combined super efforts!
